”Maya 2000” wurde in Anlehnung an die neuen Zeiten der Jahrhundertwende eingeführt. Es gipfelte darin, dass Tias Eckhoff sein eigenes, schon herausragendes Designmuster ein weiteres Mal überarbeitete und dies fast 40 Jahre nachdem er einen der wichtigsten Beiträge zu skandinavischem Design erschuf. Maya 2000 hat die gleiche Erscheinung wie sein klassisches Schwester-Besteck ”Maya”, aber mit Hinblick auf die Details werden die Unterschiede sichtbar: Maya 2000 ist länger und schlanker als seine Schwester, so dass die dreieckige Grundform, auf der beide Serien basieren, nun viel stromlinienförmiger wirkt und somit auch zu den modernsten Tischeinrichtungen passt.
