Standort: hemiepiphytisch oder terretrisch, im feuchtwarmen Flachland des Amazonasbecken zwischen El Pangui und Peru.
Anmerkungen: Monstera obliqua ist im gesamten Mittel- und südamerikanischen Raum verbreitet. Die Nominalform hat große, runde bis elliptische Blätter und wächst in Mittelamerika, je weiter man ins Amazonasbecken kommt, umso häufiger finden sich Pflanzen mit ausgeprägter Schlitzbildung. Martius hat diese Arten in Flora Brasiliensis als Monstera obliqua var. expilata beschrieben.
