Ein wunderschöner Aschenbecher aus Herend-Porzellan, verziert mit dem berühmten ungarischen „Apponyi Orange“-Muster.

„Apponyi Orange“ ist eines der bekanntesten und elegantesten Porzellanmuster, das seinen Ursprung in Ungarn hat.

Die Geschichte dieses Musters reicht bis ins 19. Jahrhundert zurück – das ursprüngliche Motiv wurde für Graf Albert Apponyi entworfen. Es wird erzählt, dass er die Manufaktur Herend bat, eines der komplexen Dekore im chinesischen Stil zu vereinfachen, damit es sich besser für den täglichen Gebrauch eignete. So entstand ein stilisiertes, symmetrisches Pflanzenornament, das später nach Apponyi benannt wurde.
