Der in Moskau und Berlin lebende Künstler Vadim Zakharov (*1959 in Duschambe) zählt zum Kreis der Moskauer Konzeptualisten. Seine tragende Funktion als Archivar und Protagonist dieser Bewegung hat seine Arbeitsweise von den späten 1970er-Jahren bis heute geprägt, wobei sich diese durch ein Höchstmaß an Kreativität und der Unabhängigkeit schöpferischen Denkens auszeichnet. Partizipation und Aktionismus sind in seinem Werk von Beginn an zentrale künstlerische Handlungsformen gewesen. Udo Kittelmann, Direktor der Nationalgalerie, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, betreut als erster nichtrussischer Kurator den russischen Pavillon auf der Biennale in Venedig und zeigt eine neue Installation des Künstlers, mit dem er seit 1995 zusammenarbeitet.
