COURSE OVERVIEW:

Welcome to the Risk Management Fundamentals course. This program will equip you with the essential concepts, terminology, processes, and behavioural insights required to understand and apply risk management across a wide range of organisational contexts. You will explore what risk management means, why it is necessary, how to identify and analyse risks, how to implement appropriate responses, and how to build a culture of risk awareness. This course also emphasises the importance of balancing opportunity with threat, using structured processes to support decision-making, and ensuring risks are monitored and controlled over time.

This course begins by examining what is meant by risk management and the benefits of effective risk management. You will explore what a risk is, how organisations sometimes fall into the “will never happen to us” mindset, and why this attitude can be dangerous. This section also highlights how every one of us is an intuitive risk manager in everyday life, why organisations must balance opportunities as well as threats, and the many uses of risk management in decision-making, planning, and safeguarding organisational objectives. You will also explore the structured stages of the risk management process and how they align with organisational needs.

The next learning area focuses on identifying and categorising risks. You will explore how to identify risks using a range of techniques and examine the major categories of risk: strategic risks, operational risks, financial/commercial risks, regulatory/compliance risks, health and safety risks, personnel risks, technology risks, and project risks. This section also highlights the importance of accurate information gathering, stakeholder involvement, and clarity when defining risk events and their causes.

A further learning area examines risk quantification and evaluation. You will explore how to quantify risks, how to assess the likelihood and impact of risk events, and how to rate risks in a consistent and meaningful way. This section examines how the risk matrix is used to visualise and prioritise risks, what constitutes a significant risk, and how organisations determine which risks require urgent action or ongoing monitoring.

Another learning area focuses on risk treatment and mitigation. You will explore how organisations address risks through the selection of risk response options—avoiding, reducing, transferring, or accepting risk. This section also examines how to identify appropriate countermeasures, how to implement these countermeasures effectively, and how to understand the concept of residual risk—what remains after treatment. You will explore how risk registers are developed and maintained, how they support transparency, and how they assist with ongoing communication and accountability.

The next learning area examines monitoring, review, and integration. You will explore how organisations monitor and review the results of risk mitigation measures, how to identify changes in the risk environment, and how to ensure risk management activities remain relevant. This section also covers how to “join it all up” by integrating risk management into planning, operations, and leadership decision-making so that risk considerations become a natural part of organisational processes.

The final learning area focuses on risk appetite and organisational culture. You will examine what risk appetite means, how organisations determine their acceptable levels of risk, and why a clear risk appetite supports better decisions. This section also explores how to create a culture of risk awareness, strengthen communication, improve staff capability, and ensure risk thinking becomes embedded across all levels of the organisation.

By the end of this course you will be able to understand the fundamentals of risk management, identify and categorise risks, assess likelihood and impact, prioritise risks using a risk matrix, develop and implement risk responses, maintain a risk register, monitor risk effectiveness, apply risk appetite principles, and contribute to a strong organisational culture of risk awareness.

Gave my dog an allergic reaction
Color: Blue, Size: 4.5 Inch
I have one that has lasted 2 years of hard play, very durable. However, this newest one in the teal color gave my dog an allergic reaction. Her face and eyes swelled up within 1/2 of playing with it. So I threw it out. I have had no issues with the green one that I bought yesterday ago.

The best gift for new dog owners
Color: Blue, Size: 4.5 Inch
This has been my mom's go-to toy to gift to friends and family when they get a new dog. I just followed suit and bought one as a gift for my friend's Newfoundland puppy. Versatile, can be used as a ball or tug of war toy, and can buy a bigger size for a puppy to grow into because they can still grab it by the holes, unlike other balls and toys that are just too big to get their mouth around

Looks great on shoulders, legs, etc. for glow. Haven't yet tried it on beach or places I would sunburn. Hoping it really works for that purpose. OTW, nice cosmetic to add glow where you want it.

My favorite sunscreen
Very easy to use and reapply, prevents sunburn effectively, and I love the way it makes my skin glow. I will say if you are using it properly, you will go through a bottle quickly so I recommend purchasing 2 right out the gate.
