Michel Couvreur Spirale Single Malt 18 years 51% 500mlDistilled in Scotland in 1994 and matured in a wine cask from Jura. Deep amber copper with some sediment evident. Plush aromatics hint at dried fruits, vanilla then later, beeswax, light raisin cake plus whispers of ginger and sulphur. Quite intense, with ginger and cardamom featuring on the palate, followed by malt and bittersweet oak. Well balanced spices. Shows solid length. The name refers to a style of wine made from grapes dried on straw mats.
