Carbide Tipped

Our dovetail routers consist of a solid steel body and carbide tipped cutting edges. With its 14 degree profile angle, it is applied in most common half-blind dovetails. Router cutters are available in shank sizes ¼' and ½'.

This router bit has a 12,7 mm shank (shaft) that will fit most large routers. Please ensure that you select a router bit with a shank (shaft) size that will fit into your router collet.

PRO-TECH router bits are manufactured in Taiwan.

consider safety for your health and the people around you

General safety suggestions:

It is advisable to always have the following items nearby and in a good condition

  • Eye protection clean and scratch free
  • Hearing protection quality earmuffs
  • Dust masks discard old and dirty masks
  • Gloves for easy handling of material and hand protection

To use router bits safely (and to get the best results from your router), the router bits need to be installed properly into the router's collet. Improper installation of your bits can cause excessive chatter and could increase the likelihood that the bits will break when in use.

Clean and sharp

First of all, before beginning any routing operation, check your bits to make sure that they are clean, relatively free of pitch, and most of all, sharp. If the bit is dull, chipped, is excessively burned or has any other defect, it should be sharpened or replaced before use.

Correct collet and collet nut fit

Most router collets have a recess (groove) that needs to click into a circlip that resides inside the collet nut. Failing to ensure that the collet 'clicked' into the collet nut will cause you to struggle to remove the router bit after tightening. This could cause the collet to break or be removed by a technical repair centre.

Correct fit inside the collet

When installing the bit into the collet, do not tighten the collet with the bit 'seated.' Instead, insert the bit until the shank (bit shaft) reaches the bottom of the collet, then ease it out about 2 mm before tightening the collet.

When the bit is tightened, there should be no less than  2/3 's of the length of the shank in the collet. If your bit has a shank that is too short, then the bit should be replaced.

Safety gear

There are a few other safety measures to keep in mind whenever you use your router. First of all, remember to always wear appropriate safety gear as indicated above.

Correct speed setting

Second, be sure to set your router to the proper speed for your router bit. Setting your router to an incorrect speed will not only affect the router's performance, but also can cause the bit to break much more easily and even cause bodily harm. The speed at which a router bit turns can be important. The typical router runs at about 22,000 rpm, which is fine for most bits. But as the diameter of the bit increases, you ll want to slow things down.

Also, before beginning any routing operation, be certain that you give the router's motor time to come up to full speed for the chosen setting. Beginning to cut before the bit is at full speed can give less than desired results.

Observe the following at all times

  • Wear a protective face shield or Safety Glasses to prevent eye and face injury.
  • Wear ear plugs or ear muffs to protect your hearing.
  • Use a respirator or dust mask to give protection from dust particles. Wood dust may remain in the air for hours after using power tools.
  • Always read and follow router operator's manual instructions.
  • Make sure that router rpm's and the bit selected match.
  • Dress properly. Wear short sleeves, no loose fitting clothes, proper footwear and no jewellery. Tie back long hair.
  • Always be sure the router is unplugged before replacing bits and that the switch is off before connecting the router.
  • Be sure the router bit has completing stopped spinning before sitting the router down.
  • Be sure bits, clamps and attachments are secure before starting up.
  • Keep children, pets and visitors at a safe distance.
  • Be especially cautious when working small pieces.
  • Keep hands and fingers away from revolving bits and cutters.
  • Do not operate routers in moist or wet areas.
  • Always grip tool tightly and be prepared at start-up to resist the motor torque.
  • When using a router table, make sure on/off switch is easily accessible.
  • Learn the sound of your router and shut it off at any unfamiliar sounds or irregularities.
Never start the router with the bit in contact with the material.
  • Always feed in the proper direction, against the direction of bit rotation.
  • Maintain equipment. Replace worn parts, discard worn-out bits and check router periodically. Clean parts with appropriate solvents.
  • Don't operate a tool if you are tired or under the influence of medication, drugs, alcohol or while smoking.
  • Check wood for nails, screws or loose knots before routing.
  • Keep your mind on your work, avoid distractions, work at a comfortable pace and stop before you get tired.

Do a dry run

  • Place the router on the final work surface and test you cut by moving the router over the whole are to cut with THE ROUTER SWITCHED OFF
  • You do not want to waste an expensive piece of wood
  • You do not want to start all over
  • Never met anyone with spare fingers - SAFETY

Rediscoving the Great Qualities of this Pillow (after Originally Rejecting It)
Color: Original White, Size: Queen
I recently 'rediscovered' this pillow... having purchased it a year or so ago, when neck + shoulder issues prevented me from being very happy with *ANY* pillow! Believe me, I tried so many! Back then, after repeatedly adjusting the fill of this COOP queen-size pillow, I ultimately stashed the whole thing in a closet. But now, it has unexpectedly re-entered my life... and I'm finally liking it. It helps that I've resolved most of the neck + shoulder issues (thanks to a year of PT). Plus. I realized that I had removed way too much fill... leaving about as much support as a pile of gently scrambled eggs. So, now that I'm in much better condition and have added back a lot of fill, I'm finding this pillow quite satisfying... yes, actually good! These days, I wake up each morning with a much happier neck. I do not. however, use the thick, quilted, zippered outer cover that came with it... as I find that stiffens + firms up the pillow a little too much for my taste. So, on top of the thinner, stretchy, zippered inner cover (also provided with the pillow, to contain the fill,) I've replaced the quilted outer cover with a jersey-stretch, zippered, cotton pillow protector. which is lighter weight and more malleable. As a person who has been traveling for years—by necessity—with a personal pillow from home, I'm now recognizing the extra advantages of this COOP pillow: For travel, its parts all compress well + easily (while for sleeping, the fill is light + lofty, but also supportive, as long as you don't remove way too much). And the pillow's components all readily come apart, so they can be packed separately...even the stuffing can be separated into smaller zip-lock packets, if needed—meaning there's never a need to squish an entire, impossibly big, somewhat dense pillow into a suitcase (or even a compression sack). Quick + easy to disassemble and reassemble. Really, the COOP can be treated as a build-your-own pillow (remember, I changed out the zippered outer cover and adjusted the stuffing volume to my own prefences). It's not cheap, but these days, remarkably, it's doing the trick for me. So glad I didn't get rid of it.

Great pillow and company
Color: Crescent White, Size: King
I have a couple of Coop Home pillows and loved them. They are several years old and I was on the search for a replacement. I tried 2 other brands, one cost more and the other cost less. Returned 1 and used the other for a short time before I had to go back to my old Coop pillow. I started looking at crescent pillows and did some research. This type of pillow is great for side and back sleepers. Being a side sleeper I looked into the best rated. Coop Home crescent pillow was not rated #1 but it was close. The top rated pillow cost 2.5 times more and I could not justify paying that. I am happy to report that I am waking up less (before every 1.5-2 hours). It comes with extra fill and I love a very firm pillow so I emailed customer service to see if I could get more filling. This was on the weekend and in 1 day they responded that they would be happy to. Now that is great customer service. I sleep warm and have no problem with a hot head. It comes with a cover but I use silk pillowcases and it works fine. I will say when I first got the pillow it was very thin and flimsy. I had some doubts but followed directions and put in the dryer on low. Came out perfect. Highly recommend this pillow and company.

Best pillow I've ever owned
Color: Cut-out White, Size: Queen
While the pillow looks anemic when it first comes out of its packaging, it puffs/firms up beautifully after time in the dryer. I haven't had any odor issues. I'm mostly a side sleeper and at first I thought there wasn't enough of the extra fill, so I put it all in. I've ended up needing to take at least half back out to keep my head at the correct angle. While this can fit in a standard pillow case, it just barely fits and keeps coming out - at least at my fill level. Queen pillow cases are much better. This is so much more comfortable than any of my previous pillows. I don't need to stack multiple pillows to get the right support. I'm no longer waking up with neck or shoulder or arm pain. I'm recommending it to pretty much everyone and I've purchased a second pillow to keep at my parents for when I visit!

So nice your wife will steal it for herself
Color: Original White, Size: Queen
This, this is the god of all pillows I’ve ever purchased. It’s the perfect balance of firm and soft and it’s easily adjustable using the added filler. I’m a side sleeper so having a primary pillow is a must. Combined with a decent secondary pillow this one provides a perfect amount of support. This pillow is so nice, my wife ‘borrowed it’.

Favorite pillow!!
Color: Original White, Size: Queen
Absolutely love this pillow! Bought my husband one a year ago after he was waking up with neck pain. Just recently bought myself one, we both love them! Very comfy and comes with a bag of extra foam to add/remove from the pillow. The zipper on the side of the pillow cover is hidden but durable. We take it with us wherever we go, and always sleep so good.
