Here's what happens:

The magician has one deck and the participant another, each with different backs. Both decks are shown, faces and backs, and shuffled independently. Both you and your participant start dealing cards face-up on the table. At any point, the participant can stop dealing, swap their next card with yours, and deal that card face down. This is done a total of three times.

Fairly and cleanly, the magician spreads both decks face-up, and three cards with matching backs are clearly visible. When the spreads are turned over, those three face-down cards match perfectly!
