Installation Guide

1. Disconnect the battery and locate the lower unit of your outboard.
2. Place a drain pan under the gearcase and remove the drain screw to empty the gear oil.
3. Remove the mounting bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) and carefully separate it from the upper engine casing.
4. Unscrew the bolts on the water pump housing and lift it off to expose the impeller.
5. Note the rotational direction of the old impeller's vanes before removing it from the drive shaft.
6. Remove the old impeller, gaskets, wear plate, and the small impeller shaft key.
7. Thoroughly clean all mating surfaces, removing any old gasket material or corrosion.
8. Install the new wear plate and housing gaskets. Place the new shaft key into its slot on the driveshaft.
9. Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft, turning the shaft clockwise to seat the vanes correctly inside the housing.
10. Reinstall the water pump housing, ensuring a snug fit, and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer-specified torque.
11. Carefully guide the driveshaft back into the engine and re-attach the lower unit.
12. Refill the gearcase with the correct grade of marine gear oil and test the engine in water, confirming a steady water stream from the tell-tale port.
