A glass of fleeting brilliance and quiet depth, the Edo Kiriko Handcrafted Black Comet Whisky Glass renders one of the rarest astronomical phenomena — the comet — across a body of deep black crystal. The lacquer-dark surface holds light only where the artisan's cut has revealed it: streaks of brilliance that flash across the darkness like a comet across the night sky, gone almost as quickly as they appear.

Wooden Gift Box Included: Presented in a wooden gift box, this premium whisky glass is ready for gifting, collecting, or display in a refined home bar. The box adds a more complete presentation for whisky lovers, anniversaries, groomsmen gifts, housewarmings, and special occasions.

Ichi-go Ichi-e (一期一会) — Once, This Moment

In Japanese aesthetic philosophy, ichi-go ichi-e (一期一会) — "one time, one meeting" — is the principle that every encounter occurs only once and will never come again. Codified by the 16th-century tea master Sen no Rikyū, the phrase asks the practitioner to honor each pour, each conversation, each fleeting moment as though it were the only one of its kind. The comet is the celestial expression of this principle: a brilliance that crosses the sky once and may not return in a single human lifetime. To pour into this glass is to enter that contemplative register — to treat the present moment as something rare and not yet returnable.

The Tradition of the Comet in Japan

Japan holds one of the world's most continuous astronomical records: the appearance of Halley's Comet in 837 AD was carefully documented in the imperial chronicles, and amateur astronomers based in Japan have continued the tradition into the modern era — Comet Hyakutake (1996), Comet Ikeya-Seki (1965), and Comet Honda each bear the names of patient observers who watched the sky and noticed what others had not. The comet, in this tradition, is the reward for quiet attention.

The Deep Black of Urushi Tradition

The deep black of this glass evokes the saturated darkness of urushi (漆) lacquerware — one of Japan's most iconic black finishes, refined since the Jōmon period (over 10,000 years ago). Urushi black is not flat but luminous; it absorbs light only to release it more intensely from any reflective edge. The glass captures this same quality: a darkness that does not feel heavy, but resonant — a darkness that makes every flash of brilliance more vivid.

The Kise (被せ) Technique

The saturated black color is achieved through the traditional kise (被せ) overlay technique. A thin layer of black-tinted crystal is fused over a clear crystal core; the artisan then hand-cuts through the colored layer with carefully judged pressure, revealing flashes of brilliance beneath like the tail of a comet appearing across deep sky. Every cut is a deliberate point of light against deliberate dark.

Hand-Cut Through Patient Tradition

Every facet is shaped by hand against a spinning wheel through tens of thousands of careful strokes. The dense, multi-directional cutting captures light from every angle, scattering brilliance against the dark like a comet's trail. The lead-free crystal carries its considered weight with the balance of true refinement.

Perfect For

Single Malt Scotch, Bourbon, Japanese whisky, and any aged spirit served neat or on the rocks. A particularly meaningful gift for those drawn to fleeting beauty — amateur astronomers, students of Buddhist philosophy, practitioners of meditation or tea ceremony, lovers of quiet drama. Also a beloved choice for collectors of black crystal, those who prefer dramatic statement pieces, and anyone who values the once-in-a-lifetime quality of significant moments. A glass for the rare pour, the unrepeatable conversation, the comet of an evening.

Sharp Looking Kids Suit With One Missing Piece
Color: Navy, Size: 7 Years, Color: Navy, Size: 7 Years
I ordered this suit for my 6yo son in a size 7 so he would have a little room to grow and get more wear out of it, and sizing is perfect. He did not need it for any specific occasion, he just wanted a suit because apparently kindergarteners sometimes wake up and decide they are businessmen now. Let me start with the positives because there are a lot of them. This is a very well made suit. The jacket, pants, and dress shirt are all surprisingly nice quality. The fabric does not feel cheap or flimsy at all. The jacket has good structure, the buttons are well attached, the seams are clean, and all the little details like the collar and pockets look great. It honestly looks like a proper little formal suit. The pants are nicely made as well and pair perfectly with the jacket. The white dress shirt underneath is also good quality and completes the whole look. Overall, it is a really sharp outfit and would absolutely work for special occasions like weddings, recitals, formal events, church, or family photos. Now for the reason I am deducting one star. The listing specifically shows and mentions that this set includes a bow tie. That was actually the main reason I chose this particular suit over others. Some options only had a standard tie or no tie at all, but my son specifically wanted a bow tie. Unfortunately, the bow tie was not included with mine. That was definitely disappointing because it was one of the main selling points for me when choosing this set. Now I have to go find a separate bow tie that matches, which I was hoping to avoid. That said, I do want to be clear that this issue does not take away from the actual quality of the suit itself. The suit is genuinely very well made and looks fantastic on him. If your child needs a suit for a wedding, formal event, recital, or something similar, this would absolutely work. My son mostly just wanted a suit because he thinks it is cool, so now he has one and can show up to school looking like the smallest CEO in kindergarten. Overall, this is a very nice quality suit set. I just wish the bow tie that was advertised had actually been included.

One size smaller is perfect!
Color: Navy, Size: 10 Years
This suit fit perfect but I did order one size smaller than my grandson normally wears. It is very well made and he can't wait to wear it in the wedding.
