The 2015 disgorgement release reflects years of lees ageing before being finished with a touch of Rockford’s own fortified Shiraz, a hallmark of this cult style.
Built on the same foundation as Basket Press Shiraz, the base wine is matured in seasoned oak before secondary fermentation in bottle. Extended lees contact adds depth and texture before disgorgement, a process that removes the sediment while preserving complexity. The result is a sparkling Shiraz that carries the density of Barossa fruit with the freshness of fine bead.
With nearly a decade since disgorgement, this wine shows both vibrancy and evolved detail. Rockford’s Black Sparkling Shiraz remains one of Australia’s most distinctive expressions, prized for its ability to age gracefully while being compellingly drinkable on release.
