Six Questions Your TruBlue Franchise Financial Model Must Answer

We built this financial model template for senior home modification business using deep research into the home service sector. Pre-populated data covers four main revenue streams-subscriptions, modifications, handyman tasks, and property management-and is defintely ready for you to tweak. With Year 1 revenue projected at $660,000 and an EBITDA of $197,000, the model provides a data-driven starting point for your financial planning for aging in place service business. Data-driven decisions beat gut feelings every time.

What is the profitability trajectory?

This unit starts generating a positive EBITDA of $197,000 in its first year, with net profit climbing steadily as you scale. By Year 5, you are looking at an EBITDA of $543,000 after accounting for all royalties and evaluating profitability of home maintenance franchise opportunities. Profit isn't an accident; it's the result of tight labor management.

Boost Unit Margins

  • Upsell subscription tiers
  • Optimize technician drive time
  • Reduce material waste
[dynamic_pic9]

How much capital is required?

You need approximately $172,400 in home service franchise startup costs to launch this unit in the US. This total includes the $49,900 franchise fee, $65,000 for service vehicles, and $18,000 for specialized tools and equipment. Capital is fuel, and you don't want to run out halfway through the ramp-up.

Primary Capital Uses

  • $49,900 Franchise Fee
  • $65,000 Service Vehicles
  • $18,000 Tools and Equipment
[dynamic_pic10]

What is the return on investment?

Based on the projections in this franchise ROI calculator, you can expect an IRR of 8.69% and a Return on Equity of 1.46. The franchise investment return analysis spreadsheet shows a payback period of 2 years, which is strong for a service-based model. Time is your most expensive asset, so watch that payback period.

Key Return Metrics

  • 8.69% Internal Rate of Return
  • 2-Year Payback Period
  • 39.6% Year 5 EBITDA Margin
[dynamic_pic11]

What is the break-even point?

You hit break-even in March 2026, just 3 months after you start. The biggest factor when you build a financial projection for a new franchise is your labor cost, specifically managing the $211,000 initial annual salary load. Speed to break-even is the best indicator of long-term survival.

Accelerate Break-Even

  • Secure 10+ subscriptions early
  • Bundle safety assessments
  • Minimize pre-opening overhead
[dynamic_pic12]

What is the cash runway?

Your lowest cash point occurs in March 2026 at $1,115,000, which includes your initial funding buffer. You must monitor your franchise unit cash flow analysis for service businesses closely while estimating monthly operating expenses for new franchise units. Cash is oxygen, and the first six months are a high-altitude climb.

Protect Your Cash

  • Phase vehicle acquisitions
  • Negotiate rent abatement
  • Use part-time technicians
[dynamic_pic13]

How do different scenarios change outcomes?

Shifting to a low case for home maintenance franchise operations can push your payback period past the 2-year mark. Still, hitting a high case by maximizing your modification ticket size can significantly boost your Year 1 margin above the projected 29.8% EBITDA. Hope is not a strategy, but a high case scenario is a great target.

Drive High Performance

  • Aggressive local SEO
  • Strong referral partnerships
  • High technician productivity

Better quality than the no-name brands
Size: 3 Pack, Color: Optic Yellow
I’ve played with quite a few different pickleballs over the past couple of years, including several cheaper “no-name” brands, and these Franklin X-40 balls consistently perform better for me. The biggest difference is durability. These seem to hold up much better to hard hits and regular outdoor play without cracking as quickly as many lower-cost balls I’ve tried. Even after multiple games, they maintain their shape and playability better than most bargain options. I also really like the bright optic yellow color. They’re easy to track during fast rallies and remain very visible in different lighting conditions, which makes a noticeable difference during competitive games. Performance-wise, they have a very consistent feel and bounce. There’s a reason these are used so widely in organized play and tournaments—they simply play reliably from game to game. While they may cost a little more than generic brands, I’ve actually found them to be a better value over time because they last longer and don’t need replacing nearly as often. Overall, these are my go-to outdoor pickleballs now. Durable, highly visible, and consistent on the court. Definitely worth it if you play regularly.

The Indispensable Standard for Outdoor Play
Size: 12 Pack, Color: Optic Yellow
As someone who genuinely lives on the pickleball court, having reliable equipment isn't a preference—it’s a necessity. The Franklin Sports X-40 Outdoor Pickleballs are the gold standard for a reason. From the moment you serve, the flight is true, offering predictable speed and a consistent, high-bounce off the court face, making every rally feel authentic and competitive. The 40 precision-drilled holes ensure that they cut through the wind effectively, minimizing drift on those breezy days that are inevitable in outdoor play. I’ve hit these with powerful serves and vicious third-shot drops, and they maintain their shape and integrity beautifully, far outlasting many other brands I’ve tried. However, let’s be honest about the one thing every dedicated player knows: you can never, ever have enough pickleballs. Even with the durability of the X-40, balls get lost in the bushes, occasionally crack under extreme force, or are simply needed for high-volume drilling. If you’re serious about the game, stocking up on these is essential—not just because they're great, but because having a full inventory is the only way to ensure the game never stops. If you’re looking for a ball that delivers official, tournament-level performance and holds up play after play, the X-40 is the one to get.

Bright, Smooth, and Worth the Price
Size: 12 Pack, Color: Optic Yellow
These pickleball balls are excellent quality and absolutely worth the price. I was hesitant at first because they cost a little more than other options for the same quantity, but the difference is obvious once you use them. They glide smoothly, feel like high‑end material, and the bright color is a huge plus especially in low lit areas where visibility can be an issue. They’re easy to spot on the court and stand out even when multiple games are going on. The color is noticeably brighter than most pickleballs I’ve seen, which makes them easy to identify and retrieve. The overall quality and size really speaks for itself. I highly recommend them.

Great Outdoor Pickleballs for Practice and Games
Size: 6 Pack, Color: Multi
These pickleballs have been great overall for outdoor play. The colors are bright and easy to see on the court, which is especially helpful during evening games or when playing on darker surfaces. They have a consistent bounce and feel durable compared to some cheaper pickleballs I’ve tried before. I also like that they fly pretty true and don’t wobble too much during rallies. They work well for both casual games and more competitive practice sessions. The balls feel solid off the paddle and provide a good balance of speed and control. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because a couple of the balls started showing small cracks after extended outdoor use on rough courts. They still lasted longer than many other brands, but I expected slightly better durability considering the price. They can also feel a bit harder than some softer outdoor balls, especially in colder weather. Overall though, these are reliable pickleballs and definitely a good choice for outdoor play. I’d buy them again for practice and recreational matches.
