Rainy River LivesRainy River Lives is the long lost collection of stories of Ojibwe men and women as told by a hitherto unpublished, traditional Ojibwe storyteller, Maggie Wilson (1879 1940). Wilson lived on the Manitou Rapids Reserve on the Rainy River, which flows along the Ontario Minnesota border. When anthropologist Ruth Landes arrived at Rainy River to conduct her doctoral research in 1932, Wilson often worked with the young scholar, telling her many stories.
Rainy River Lives is the long-lost collection of stories of Ojibwe men and women as told by a hitherto unpublished, traditional Ojibwe storyteller, Maggie Wilson (1879-1940). Wilson lived on the Manitou Rapids Reserve on the Rainy River, which flows along the Ontario-Minnesota border. When anthropologist Ruth Landes arrived at Rainy River to conduct her doctoral research in 1932, Wilson often worked with the young scholar, telling her many stories. Their relationship continued after Landes returned to Columbia University. During the following decades, however, the letters and stories Wilson had sent Landes, which Landes had carefully collected, were lost. Only recently were they discovered in the basement of the Smithsonian Institution, where they had been misfiled with papers of another anthropologist. This rich set of narratives takes us inside the intimate world of Ojibwe families at the turn of the twentieth century, a time of great upheaval when the Ojibwes were being relocated onto reserves and required by the government to abandon their seasonal migrations and subsistence activities. These remarkably detailed stories of ordinary Native people, precisely through their everyday character, reveal much about Ojibwe cultural beliefs and paint a nuanced ethnographic portrait of Ojibwe life. In the distinctive voice of an exceptional and highly creative individual, the stories address both the culturally specific world of the Ojibwes and universal human themes of love, loss, and perseverance.

NOT durable (tested by a french bulldog who is not a super chewer)
Color: Beau - The Teddy Bear, Size: One Size
This bear came apart in less than 2 minutes (french bull dog, playing by himself, and not a super chewer) - so I would not consider it durable; and this isn't a fluke, as it's the second one we've tried. We purchased it because we have a Pet Passion Plush Rabbit - which has proven to be durable and has stayed together beautifully - so we do recommend the rabbit. Same dog, same play behavior with both - so it appears the bear is not crafted the same as the rabbit.

Great, durable, cotton toy!
Color: Buffy - The Bunny, Size: One Size, Color: Buffy - The Bunny, Size: One Size
Was on the hunt for dog toys that weren't made of plastic, especially since my dogs try to eat the polyester stuffing. This toy has held up remarkably well to my 2 dogs' play and chewing (Labrador and corgi). Squeaker still works! You can see the wear near the eyes and I'm glad my dog is ingesting a little wool instead of plastic.

Didn’t last long
Color: Buffy - The Bunny, Size: One Size
Three stars because I really loved that this was made from 100% cotton and had the coconut fiber fill, it’s almost impossible to find non toxic, natural fabric and fill for dog toys for some illogical reason, but unfortunately, it only lasted a day for my husky. She’s not that hard on her chew toys, so it should’ve lasted. The squeaker was also not what I had hoped for, difficult to get it to squeak. This is a common problem w squeaky dog toys I’m finding. I would love for this company to improve the durability, get better squeakers and become the go-to place for me and other dog owners who understand the importance of all natural chew toys. I would support, be a lifelong customer and recommend to all my fam and friends.
