Domaine Capmartin is located in the heart of the French south-west, in the village of Madiran, famous for its intense red wines made with Tannat grapes.

While coming from an old winemaking family, Guy Capmartin started orienting the estate towards less conventional and more organic and even biodynamic approaches in the year 2000s. His son Simon has now taken over and has resolutely engaged himself in the footsteps of his father, producing wines that are both respectful of the traditional essence of Madiran wines and innovative in the diverse ways he expresses this essence.

The estate offers a large range of wines, all made in a way emphasising quality and the expression  of its unique terroir. Low amount of sulfites (none for some cuvées) and only natural processes and products are used to produce wines with distinctive and very diverse features.

La Cuvée du Couvent is one of the top wines of the estate, made with the typical grape of Madiran wines, the Tannat.

Dark as Tannat wines can be, this 2020 vintage offers a distinguished nose of blackcurrant, blackberry, dark cherries, graphite, and subtle toasted wood.
Initially displaying a beautiful velvety texture, it reveals a structured, full-bodied, deep, and very traditional palate with chewy tannins. A great introduction to Madiran wines.

Served around 18°C, its rich structure will pair nicely with powerful and savoury red meat or game dishes, as well as with matured cheeses. A great companion for the Winter season.
