Boophane disticha is a striking bulbous plant native to southern Africa, admired for its dramatic fan-shaped arrangement of leaves and large, showy flower heads. The plant grows from a partially exposed bulb that can reach up to 6 inches (15 centimeters) in diameter, often sitting above the soil surface. Its leaves are long, strap-shaped, and arranged in a distinctive fan pattern, giving it a sculptural appearance even when not in bloom. In spring or summer, Boophane disticha produces a tall stalk topped with a spherical cluster of pink to reddish flowers that gradually dry into an ornamental, papery globe. Do not water once the leaves have begun to yellow and it enters dormancy. Keep dry until new growth emerges. Known for its drought tolerance and slow growth, this species has a long history of traditional medicinal use in Africa but should be handled with care, as it contains toxic alkaloids. Its unusual form and seasonal beauty make Boophane disticha a prized specimen for collectors of rare geophytes.

Please Note: Plant will ship bare root with little to no dirt, and you will receive a plant similar to the one in the photo. Be aware that the sap of this plant is toxic and should not be touched by children or pets. If you happen to come into contact with the sap while handling the plant, wash your hands right away.

Fragile: leaves may curl, fall off, or bruise during shipping. Will recover with proper light, water, and leaf shedding.

The ideal fetch ball
Our dog is obsessed with these. They bounce well, they’re squishy enough to meet his chewing needs but strong enough to not get destroyed. We do replace them every 8-10 months because after 2-3 20 min fetch sessions almost everyday they do rip. They have a nice weight to them so they’re easy to hurl 20-30 yards.

The best for fetching enthusiasts
We have two lab mix dogs that love to play fetch but also have very strong jaws and sharp teeth. Tennis balls last about 10 seconds. I have used these for several years now and they are the best. They glow in the dark for night fetching, have two holes and are hollow so they whistle when you throw them. The dogs chew them like gum when not fetching and they hold up. They last about a year before starting to tear (this is with almost daily use). These balls are their favorites and get they upset if I use something else.
