A finalist for the 1972 National Book Award, hailed by The New York Times Book Review as "brilliant" and "provocative," Nathan Huggins' Harlem Renaissance was a milestone in the study of African-American life and culture. Now this classic history is being reissued, with a new foreword by acclaimed biographer Arnold Rampersad.
As Rampersad notes, "Harlem Renaissance remains an indispensable guide to the facts and features, the puzzles and mysteries, of one of the most provocative episodes in African-American and American history." Indeed, Huggins offers a brilliant account of the creative explosion in Harlem during these pivotal years. Blending the fields of history, literature, music, psychology, and folklore, he illuminates the thought and writing of such key figures as Alain Locke, James Weldon Johnson, and W.E.B. DuBois and provides sharp-eyed analyses of the poetry of Claude McKay, Countee Cullen, and Langston Hughes. But the main objective for Huggins, throughout the book, is always to achieve a better understanding of America as a whole. As Huggins himself noted, he didn't want Harlem in the 1920s to be the focus of the book so much as a lens through which readers might see how this one moment in time sheds light on the American character and culture, not just in Harlem but across the nation. He strives throughout to link the work of poets and novelists not only to artists working in other genres and media but also to economic, historical, and cultural forces in the culture at large.
This superb reissue of Harlem Renaissance brings to a new generation of readers one of the great works in African-American history and indeed a landmark work in the field of American Studies.

Perfect for the Price!
Color: Greige, Size: 13"D x 23.7"W x 32.7"H
The bar cart was very easy to put together. I can be "mechanically challenged" and was able to do it myself LOL It's nice and sturdy, the wheels roll smooth when you move it. The size is perfect for the small wall I have it against. I have several bottles of liquor and bartending mixer set on top, and about 20 various glassware on the 2nd shelf. The bottom shelf is taller, and does let you stand larger bottles down there. The one racks will only for the smaller size, but does hold them well.

Decent bar cart, but very annoying assembly
Color: Marble White, Size: 13"D x 23.7"W x 32.7"H
I think it looks nice and is decent value, but this thing is a pain to put together. Instead of just sending 3 shelves, you get 6 pieces to connect together to make 3 shelves. On top of that - they don’t even really connect. It would be 1000x easier if they added a couple of wooden pegs to connect the 2 pieces together. Instead, you have to do a balancing act which is tedious as can be. I ended up super glueing 2 of the 3 shelves togethers after how annoying the first was, so I would highly recommend you do the same. The whole process of putting it together feels like a balancing act. For something so small, it’s about as annoying as possible to put together. Nearly every step requires you to balance something and screw it in. Most of this would be alleviated if, as I said, it was just 3 pieces for the shelves instead of 6. But, you get what you pay for. Overall, I can’t complain too much for the price and result, but I wasn’t a fan of building it. It’d also look a little nicer if each shelf didn’t have a crack going through it.

Very pretty
Color: Black, Color: Black
This sink caddy is very pretty. It is easy to use. It has slots for brushes and whatnot. Keep in mind that not all soap bottles will fit in it though. I had to adjust my soap bottle to fit, so it kind of took up space where I could have put a little more things that same space. If you have round sponges like the ones I have, they can fit where you put the soap dispenser. It just all depends on what size soap dispenser you have in there. The quality has been good so far. It's easy to clean the bottom of the tray. It simply just slides in and out. Very easy. I recommend this.
