Deploying voice communications over the Internet can introduce quality and security issues that traditional phone systems do not. The Ribbon EdgeMarc 2900e Data/Voice Gateway is purpose-built to solve these challenges at the network edge, delivering reliable, high-quality VoIP alongside secure data services. Designed for mid-size to enterprise environments, the EdgeMarc 2900e combines robust SIP-enabled voice signaling, advanced threat protection, and flexible data connectivity in a compact, easy-to-manage appliance. It serves as a trusted bridge between your internal voice infrastructure and external IP networks, enabling scalable SIP trunking, secure remote access, and seamless integration with your UC or PBX platform. Whether you’re migrating from legacy TDM to IP telephony or consolidating data and voice onto a single edge device, the EdgeMarc 2900e provides the critical balance of performance, security, and simplicity that modern networks demand.

  • High-quality VoIP with enterprise-grade QoS: The EdgeMarc 2900e prioritizes voice traffic across your network with advanced QoS, ensuring consistent call clarity and low jitter even when data usage spikes. It supports standard codecs (including G.711 and G.729) and codec negotiation to optimize bandwidth, helping you achieve predictable MOS scores and minimal packet loss. This edge device also protects signaling integrity with robust SIP handling, preventing SIP message loss and ensuring reliable trunk connectivity to carriers and UC platforms.
  • Unified data and voice gateway at the network edge: Consolidate data and voice paths for simpler management and improved efficiency. The EdgeMarc 2900e enables secure Internet connectivity and VPN-enabled remote access while simultaneously acting as a VoIP gateway for SIP trunks or hosted PBX services. This fusion reduces hardware footprint, lowers total cost of ownership, and streamlines policy control—so you can enforce unified QoS, security, and routing rules across both voice and data traffic from a single device.
  • Integrated security and robust firewall capabilities: Built-in stateful firewall, NAT traversal, and multi-layer protection help defend against external threats as VoIP sessions traverse public networks. The gateway can enforce granular access control policies, block suspicious traffic, and support IPsec and SSL/TLS VPNs for secure site-to-site and remote access. With intrusion protection, DoS mitigation, and secure management interfaces, your voice services stay resilient without sacrificing performance.
  • Flexible WAN/LAN connectivity and high availability: The EdgeMarc 2900e is designed for edge deployments with versatile network interfaces, enabling dual WAN connections, VLAN tagging, and Quality of Service across multiple network segments. Auto-failover and traffic steering capabilities help maintain service continuity during WAN outages or ISP changes. This flexibility makes it suitable for branch offices, remote sites, and distributed enterprises that require dependable voice and data services regardless of network conditions.
  • Easy management, monitoring, and scalable deployment: Centralized configuration through a web-based GUI, complemented by CLI for advanced users, allows rapid provisioning and ongoing policy management. The EdgeMarc 2900e supports standard management protocols and logging for easy integration with existing monitoring systems. Its modular design supports incremental growth as your organization adds users, branches, or new SIP trunks, making it a future-proof choice for evolving UC strategies.

Fuzzballs get wearing once
Color: Black, Size: X-Large
Very smart to wear, but the quality is terrible so after one wash the collar start fraying and fuzzballs start forming. Very disappointing.

Almost the perfect watch
Color: Black/Blue
I have owned three earlier models of these things going back to the days when I actually ran road races. They are brilliant pieces of work. My only complaint of them was that the start/stop/split button(s)--there were two on the older models--were too small. Well, apparently Timex listens and the two small buttons are now combined into one larger one. Probably this was done years ago but I'm only now getting back into road work, so now I get to discover it. The perfect watch? Almost. I especially like this model as my eyes are not what they used to be and the oversized face makes it easier to read. The downside to this is that it also makes the crystal easier to scratch. That's always been an issue, but I can live with it. No, the real problem with this product is, was, and apparently ever shall be, the band. Now, it could be worse, it could be a resin band (like the old ones) that will crack and break within a couple of years, but no, this is a nylon and velcro wrap style which should be just dandy, but for three glitches: 1. it's too short 2. it's too narrow (gee whiz, Timex designers, it's an oversized watch, why not a matching oversized band?) and 3. it's still resin where it attaches to the actual watch. Now, I imagine it's probably less prone to breakage in how it's implemented, but if you should choose to replace it, I can see no obvious way of removing it short of cutting it off. Really? But these are minor complaints. I doubt it would be comfortable on anyone whose wrists are much bigger than my own, but replacement bands are everywhere, and this watch will keep time with style and it's brilliant at splits. Heck, it even functions admirably as a backup for my expensive stopwatches at our regular short track stock car events. For my money (and did I mention the price is wonderful?) the Ironman is still the best at what it does, and for what it can do.

Good hard use watch.
Color: Black/Silver-Tone
Review Calibration: 3 stars means it works as advertised, nothing special during use, and no amazing features. Higher stars mean better-than-expected performance and features. This is 5 stars because it is my favorite work/hard-use watch. I have been wearing one for years, and like all Timex watches, it can take a beating. I have to replace it when the band's ears get so damaged that they won't hold the band on. This has more to do with the plastic's lifespan than with a design issue. I am hard on watches. This watch normally lasts ne 7-10 years between replacements.

Typical Ironman quality
Color: Black/Silver-Tone
This is my fourth Timex Ironman watch. I own many watches, and prefer the Ironman for casual wear and sporting activities as well as swimming and snorkeling. I decided to replace an earlier model with this one rather than pay to change the battery. The Ironman has changed very little over the years since its introduction in the '80s, with the exception of cosmetic improvememnts and a larger display. I selected the "oversize" model as I was looking for a little more heft to this model. This watch fits the bill, not as chunky as my G-Shock. A pleasant surprise was the weight of the watch. This model is lightweight, another advantage over the G. It's larger than the typical Ironman model, but about the same weight. The band lacks the stiffness of some other Timex and Casio models, and is quite comfortable. Typical Ironman functions are unchanged, and the ability to "hide" various functions makes operation of the watch more efficient. There are three time zones, useful when traveling, as well as the usual chronograph/timer and alarm functions. I haven't worn the watch in the pool or ocean yet, but if experience is any guide, I expect no problems. I've never had an Ironman leak, whether during water sports or snorkeling. These are great watches for the money. I prefer 200 meter water resistance for this type of watch, but Timex has yet to build an Ironman 200m that doesn't overwhelm my wrist in weight and size. I'm not a big guy, and they are simply too large for my wrist. Looking forward to years of service with this watch. Definitely a good timepiece for the price.
