The Telefunken M62-SS is a matched pair of small-diaphragm hypercardioid FET condenser microphones designed to deliver fast transient response and accurate, yet musical frequency reproduction for musicians and recording engineers in home, project, and commercial studios. Ideal for stereo configurations, the M60 FET bodies feature custom-wound transformers, active FET transistors, and Class-A discrete amplifiers. The included TK62 capsules utilize 6-micron, gold-sputtered membranes and exhibit hypercardioid polar patterns.

The M62's 130 dB maximum SPL, 20 Hz to 31.5 kHz frequency response, low self-noise, and fast transient response make it ideal for critical capture of a wide variety of instruments and room ambience. The supplied shockmounts isolate the microphones from vibrations that would otherwise be transferred through the mic stands. Two windscreens are included for reduction of noise from gusts of air. The M62-SS ships with two XLR cables and a zipper carrying case.

Detailed Frequency Response

The M62-SS package includes a matched pair of microphones, each featuring one M60 amplifier paired with a TK62 hypercardioid capsule that incorporates a 6-micron gold-sputtered membrane measuring 15mm in diameter. The mics offer surprisingly full low end and quick, accurate transient response. Their frequency response is flat from 150 Hz to 3 kHz with a dip at 6 kHz and a smooth, airy presence peak at 8 kHz. The tightened hypercardioid polar pattern is great for use on cymbals, percussion, and as a stereo pair for live performance recording.

Sonic Characteristics

The M62's incredibly quick transient response captures nuances and subtleties with impressive precision and clarity. This results in an extremely detailed sonic image with definition and presence, perfectly suited for the complex character of stringed instruments and percussive sources.

Circuit Design

Utilizing a proprietary circuit topology, this re-interpretation of the classic FET mic amplifier produces exceptional transient response and SPL handling capabilities. Carefully selected and tested components are hand-plugged into gold-plated circuit board traces to provide an ultra-clean true Class-A discrete amplifier with a frequency response of ±2 dB from 20 Hz to 50 kHz. The output is matched with a custom American-made transformer that offers an especially low self-noise and a typical THD+N of 0.015% or better, making it ideal for critical recording applications.

Construction

The M60 FET amplifier body is finished in a durable, lightly textured black powder coat adorned with the historic TELEFUNKEN diamond badge. The microphone's XLR connector shell complements the look with a matte black nickel-plated finish engraved with the model and serial number. The TK62 capsule features a bright nickel-plated enclosure with a fine gold mesh pattern.

Accessories

The M62-SS system ships complete with two SGMC-5R XLR cables with right-angle female connectors, two M 761 elastic shockmounts, and two foam windscreens, all packed in an FC62 zipper carrying case.

Engine air filters are important!

Just like me and you breathing, your car performs better when it can breathe freely and cleanly. My philosophy with an engine air filter is to replace with cheap and often. You can't control the quality of air coming into your system but you can control the filtering, so I'd rather replace the filter on an accelerated schedule with a cheap product than to invest into something more expensive and have it perform dirty for longer than it should. For my Honda CRV 2024 Hybrid, this filter fits snuggly and performs well.

Two Filters, Quick and Easy

The RVgolf Engine+Cabin Air Filters Kit for the Toyota Tacoma V6 comes with two air filters. There is a cabin air filter that fits nicely into the compartment accessed through the glove box and an engine air filter that dropped in easily in the compartment under the hood. Replacement of both filters was easy, didn’t require any tools, and it took more time to empty and replace the items in the glove box than it did to replace both filters. The Toyota dealership quoted me $80 to replace the cabin air filter only. I replaced both filters for less than $30. The filters felt like they were good quality. The engine air filter is multi-layered, with a thin foam layer to keep larger debris from blocking the finer paper filter. The cabin air filter said and looked like it had a carbon layer to absorb smells. The only concern I had was size. After I had replaced both filters I went to slide the engine air filter I replaced into the RVgolf box to throw it away. The engine air filter I replaced would not slide into the RVgolf box. It was too big. After driving for a few days and a couple of hundred miles, I popped the hood and checked the fit of the engine air filter. The fit looked perfect. See attached photos.
