Featuring a winning combination of flexibility, ease of use, and outstanding sound quality, the medium, beige 4088 CORE+ Cardioid Headset Microphone from DPA Microphones is designed for conferencing, theater, house of worship, and broadcasting applications. The CORE+ technology in the 4088 delivers a wide dynamic range and almost completely neutralizes distortion at SPLs up to 133 dB, helping to provide clean, crisp, and natural sonic performance, even on loud stages. In addition, the mic features a 4 to 6 dB soft boost at 15 kHz for added clarity and intelligibility.

The 4088 CORE+ features a double-vent protection system that works in tandem with a drop stopper and water-resistant materials in the mic to help prevent damage from humidity and moisture. The comfortable and secure dual-ear design offers an adjustable mic boom that can be worn on either the right or left side, depending on preference.

Modular System Featuring MicroLock Connector
Secure, Dependable Connections
  • Built to withstand the rigors of long-term everyday use, DPA's MicroLock system features an easy-to-use, secure, and wear-resistant locking connector specially engineered to minimize accidental disconnection and ensure reliable performance. The compact design is well suited to situations where space is limited and a visually discreet solution is preferred.
  • The 4088 mic will work with a wide variety of wireless transmitters via separately available adapters. Simply choose the MicroLock adapter with the appropriate connector for your bodypack transmitter and you're good to go.
  • MicroLock is fully backwards compatible with the MicroDot connection; MicroLock parts can be assembled with MicroDot parts and function as if they were of the MicroDot type. Please note that the locking function is only available if both the male and female parts are MicroLock.
A Reliable Broadcast-Quality Headset with CORE+
Normal Headroom for Standard Speech

The 4088 CORE+ features a sensitive 5.4mm electret-condenser capsule designed for standard speech and vocal applications at levels up to 134 dB SPL RMS and 137 dB SPL peak before producing < 1% distortion. The mic can even handle up to 144 dB SPL with only 10% distortion, making it well suited to a variety of presenters and performers.

Dual-Ear Headset for Active Talent

Once placed on the performer, the headset microphone sits securely and unobtrusively close to the sound source and allows the user to move freely about without having to hold a microphone in the hand or have a lavalier mic clipped on the shirt. Headset mics remove the disadvantage of changing the color of the sound as the head moves around. This dual-ear model is ideal for more active situations, when secure mounting is required, as it sits snugly on the neck and is virtually invisible.

More Range, Less Distortion

Microphones with CORE+ provide even more clarity across the entire dynamic range, from low to high sound pressure levels. Miniature microphones with CORE+ provide unheard levels of openness. While CORE allows mics to handle higher SPLs without significant artifacts up to 1% THD, CORE+ eliminates those artifacts completely.

Cardioid Polar Pattern

The 4088's directional cardioid polar pattern delivers excellent off-axis rejection in high-SPL situations. It efficiently suppresses distant sound sources making it perfect for demanding live performance environments where background noise and feedback are concerns. In high-SPL events, or when feedback is a concern, this microphone will tackle these challenges with ease.

Soft Boost for Clarity

With its built-in 4 to 6 dB soft boost at 15 kHz, the mic is equalized at the factory to deliver additional high-end presence for added clarity and speech intelligibility.

Tough, Moisture-Resistant Construction

Engineered with a double-vent protection system, the 4088 is certified IP58 for dust and moisture resistance. The rugged 3.9' cable is built with Kevlar strain relief to survive the constant twists, bends, and pulls that are part of everyday use in harsh environments.

Fuzzballs get wearing once
Color: Black, Size: X-Large
Very smart to wear, but the quality is terrible so after one wash the collar start fraying and fuzzballs start forming. Very disappointing.

Almost the perfect watch
Color: Black/Blue
I have owned three earlier models of these things going back to the days when I actually ran road races. They are brilliant pieces of work. My only complaint of them was that the start/stop/split button(s)--there were two on the older models--were too small. Well, apparently Timex listens and the two small buttons are now combined into one larger one. Probably this was done years ago but I'm only now getting back into road work, so now I get to discover it. The perfect watch? Almost. I especially like this model as my eyes are not what they used to be and the oversized face makes it easier to read. The downside to this is that it also makes the crystal easier to scratch. That's always been an issue, but I can live with it. No, the real problem with this product is, was, and apparently ever shall be, the band. Now, it could be worse, it could be a resin band (like the old ones) that will crack and break within a couple of years, but no, this is a nylon and velcro wrap style which should be just dandy, but for three glitches: 1. it's too short 2. it's too narrow (gee whiz, Timex designers, it's an oversized watch, why not a matching oversized band?) and 3. it's still resin where it attaches to the actual watch. Now, I imagine it's probably less prone to breakage in how it's implemented, but if you should choose to replace it, I can see no obvious way of removing it short of cutting it off. Really? But these are minor complaints. I doubt it would be comfortable on anyone whose wrists are much bigger than my own, but replacement bands are everywhere, and this watch will keep time with style and it's brilliant at splits. Heck, it even functions admirably as a backup for my expensive stopwatches at our regular short track stock car events. For my money (and did I mention the price is wonderful?) the Ironman is still the best at what it does, and for what it can do.

Good hard use watch.
Color: Black/Silver-Tone
Review Calibration: 3 stars means it works as advertised, nothing special during use, and no amazing features. Higher stars mean better-than-expected performance and features. This is 5 stars because it is my favorite work/hard-use watch. I have been wearing one for years, and like all Timex watches, it can take a beating. I have to replace it when the band's ears get so damaged that they won't hold the band on. This has more to do with the plastic's lifespan than with a design issue. I am hard on watches. This watch normally lasts ne 7-10 years between replacements.

Typical Ironman quality
Color: Black/Silver-Tone
This is my fourth Timex Ironman watch. I own many watches, and prefer the Ironman for casual wear and sporting activities as well as swimming and snorkeling. I decided to replace an earlier model with this one rather than pay to change the battery. The Ironman has changed very little over the years since its introduction in the '80s, with the exception of cosmetic improvememnts and a larger display. I selected the "oversize" model as I was looking for a little more heft to this model. This watch fits the bill, not as chunky as my G-Shock. A pleasant surprise was the weight of the watch. This model is lightweight, another advantage over the G. It's larger than the typical Ironman model, but about the same weight. The band lacks the stiffness of some other Timex and Casio models, and is quite comfortable. Typical Ironman functions are unchanged, and the ability to "hide" various functions makes operation of the watch more efficient. There are three time zones, useful when traveling, as well as the usual chronograph/timer and alarm functions. I haven't worn the watch in the pool or ocean yet, but if experience is any guide, I expect no problems. I've never had an Ironman leak, whether during water sports or snorkeling. These are great watches for the money. I prefer 200 meter water resistance for this type of watch, but Timex has yet to build an Ironman 200m that doesn't overwhelm my wrist in weight and size. I'm not a big guy, and they are simply too large for my wrist. Looking forward to years of service with this watch. Definitely a good timepiece for the price.
