It’s suitable for all kinds of constipation and people, easy to prepare and use, and comes in a wide range of flavours. You may have previously used MOVICOL on the advice of a healthcare professional. But you can also keep MOVICOL in your cupboard at home, handy for occasional constipation episodes. Just follow instructions in the pack, and ask your pharmacist if you have any questions.  Always read the label. Use only as directed and consult your Healthcare Professional if symptoms persist.

Product Claims: Unlike some laxatives that work to directly cause bowel contractions, MOVICOL works in a way that's more naturally aligned to your system. Regardless of what's caused your constipation, it's the loss of water as stools pass through your bowel that makes them hard, dry and difficult to pass. MOVICOL is formulated to help rectify this by aiding water retention in the bowel for an easier, more natural bowel movement. MOVICOL usually takes between 24 and 48 hours to act. While some laxatives may work slightly faster, the onset of their action can be relatively harsh and sometimes unpredictable. MOVICOL gives you effective but gentle control compared with most other laxatives. Always read the label. Use only as directed and consult your Healthcare Professional if symptoms persist.

Ingredients 

Contains: Each sachet contains 13.125 g of macrogol 3350.

Directions 

For oral administration. Each sachet should be dissolved in 125 mL water. For fecal impaction 8 sachets may be dissolved in 1 liter of water. Store reconstituted solution in a refrigerator and discard any solution not used within 6 hours.

Warnings 

The fluid content of MOVICOL when re-constituted with water does not replace regular fluid intake and adequate fluid intake must be maintained. Adverse reactions are possible as described under Adverse Reactions. If patients develop any symptoms indicating shifts of fluid/electrolytes (eg. oedema, shortness of breath, increasing fatigue, dehydration, cardiac failure) MOVICOL should be stopped immediately and electrolytes measured, and any abnormality should be treated appropriately. This medicine helps you to have a comfortable bowel movement even if you have been constipated for a long time. It also works in fecal impaction (as determined by your doctor).
