Background

ACSS2 (Acyl-CoA Synthetase Short-Chain Family Member 2) is a key metabolic enzyme that catalyzes the ligation of acetate to coenzyme A (CoA), generating acetyl-CoA in an ATP-dependent reaction. It is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and nucleus and plays a critical role in cellular metabolism, particularly under stress conditions such as hypoxia, nutrient deprivation, and lipid metabolism dysregulation. ACSS2 enables cells to utilize exogenous acetate as an alternative carbon source when glucose and other nutrients are scarce. The acetyl-CoA produced by ACSS2 serves dual functions: it enters de novo lipogenesis for fatty acid synthesis and provides acetyl groups for histone acetylation, thereby regulating gene expression epigenetically. Under nutrient stress, particularly amino acid deficiency, SIRT2 deacetylates ACSS2 at lysine residue K271, leading to its ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation, which suppresses lipogenesis.

Great job by Asurion!
Asurion handled my claim quickly and efficiently. My return was picked up by UPS and an Amazon gift card for the full amount was received as promised. Very happy with the process.

Make sure you read the terms and conditions and don't let them off the hook
Asurion is counting on the fact that you don't know how to read. They made the claim process aggravating and as difficult as possible. I CAN read and had to review the terms and conditions with them on the phone and threaten to involve an attorney before they would honor the coverage. They tried to say my product was not portable, when the word "portable" is literally in the name of the product. Then they tried to say the the accidental drop was not covered, but it clearly states in the terms and conditions that an accidental drop and a cracked screen is a covered event. I buy the coverage almost every time I am offered it, but I will be rethinking that going forward and Amazon should consider finding a different company to issue the protection plans for their products because I fear this is the beginning of a lot of complaints. I have filed a claim in the past and it was very straightforward and easy, but they must have a new company managing the plans now, because it was anything but easy. If I was an older person who was not tech savy, or who just took someone's word at face value, I would be out the cost of my item and the protection plan. BUYER BEWARE

Simple and not Drama claim process.
’ve had Asurion coverage for a couple of years and never needed to use it until recently, when my pool salt cell (less than two years old) stopped working. I had purchased it with an Asurion protection plan, so I contacted them to start a claim. The process was simple and straightforward to follow. In the end, they honored the plan and covered the cost of my salt cell based on the value when I originally bought it. They issued me a gift card that I could use on Amazon for that amount. While prices have gone up and a new cell now costs about $200 more, it was still definitely worth having the coverage. Overall, I’m satisfied with how the claim was handled.

Love this protection plan
Quick and easy. My daughter's cracked her screen on her phone, as soon as it happened I went on the app, filed the claim. Ten minutes later I received the email with the shipping lable. The following day I dropped the phone off at ups and 4 hours later I received the digital gift card. Ive filed several claims since getting the protection plan and with four kids its definitelysomething im glad to have especially since i dont have to buy a protectionplan for each item now. I have filed claims for electric scooter the stoped working for no reason, my son's phone stopped charging, my oldest daughter cracked her phone screen, my son's video game controllers up and died and each time it was quick and easy and no fuss
