Features:
  • 13.3" Display: 1440 x 900 resolution for high-quality images and fine detail. Energy-efficient LED backlight.
  • 5th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-5250U mobile processor: Ultra-low-voltage platform. Dual-core, four-way processing provides maximum high-efficiency power to go.
  • 4GB system memory for basic multitasking: Adequate high-bandwidth RAM to smoothly run multiple applications and browser tabs all at once.
  • 256GB Solid State Drive (SSD): While offering less storage space than a hard drive, a flash-based SSD has no moving parts, resulting in faster start-up times and data access, no noise, and reduced heat production and power draw on the battery.
  • Intel® HD Graphics 6000: On-processor graphics with shared video memory provide everyday image quality for Internet use, basic photo editing and casual gaming.
  • Thunderbolt port for connecting advanced monitors and external drives: This single interface supports both high-speed data and high-def video — plus power over cable for bus-powered devices — ideal for digital content creators.
  • Built-in media reader for simple photo transfer: Supports select memory card formats.
  • Next-generation wireless connectivity: Connects to your network or hotspots on all current Wi-Fi standards. Connect to a Wireless-AC router for speed nearly 3x faster than Wireless-N.

Answers Many Questions about Naval Developments
Format: Hardcover
The history offers a detailed and well organized account of the Royal Navy as it transitioned from sail to steam. Coverage included personalities, technology, tactics and strategy. The combination provided a complete appreciation of the dynamics at play, some unexpectedly. The details might be a bit much for a casual reader but offered plenty of avenues for research not available or compiled in one source. I look forward to the final volume, which should describe another watershed era.

Great Book with a different perspective
Format: Hardcover
This will be a short review of a very long book. I ordered the book expecting more of a history of the British Navy, but this is more of a history of Britain with respect to its navy. It is still excellent and authoritative, just different than I expected. I really appreciate a somewhat different perspective than I have found in some other books. For example, any discussion of Jackie Fisher I have read previously seemed to border on the hagiographic, whereas here he seems to get a very evenhanded appraisal. A great book, highly recommended.
