Sony Classical is pleased to announce the first release of Alexander Brailowsky's complete RCA Victor recordings, many of them never before available in the digital medium. Born in 1896 in Kiev, Brailowsky studied at the conservatory in his native city, which was then part of the Russian empire. In 1911, he went to Vienna to become a pupil of the legendary Theodor Leschetizky, who taught many of the 20th century's outstanding pianists, including Artur Schnabel. During World War I Brailowsky also studied with Busoni in Switzerland and in 1919 he made his debut in Paris. Five years later came his first appearance in New York where he settled, then making regular coast-to-coast tours of North America while continuing to visit Europe. There was one composer with whom Alexander Brailowsky was associated throughout his career - and has remained associated through recordings since his death in 1976: Frederic Chopin. Brailowsky was the first pianist to present Chopin's entire 169 solo works as a cycle, performing this feat before capacity audiences in New York, Brussels, Zurich, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Montevideo and Paris. At the end of his 1938 Chopin series in New York, one reviewer noted that "there are few enough pianists who have the prodigious memory, the physical strength, the comprehensive technique required for such an undertaking; there are far fewer who have - plus all these - the requisite musicianship. Mr. Brailowsky is one of these latter few." Not surprisingly, Sony Classical's new comprehensive reissue of Brailowsky's RCA albums largely comprises music by Chopin. Both piano concertos are included - No. 1 with William Steinberg conducting the RCA Victor Symphony Orchestra in 1949 and No. 2 with Charles Munch and the Boston Symphony Orchestra from 1954. High Fidelity later wrote of these two performances: "Brailowsky's energetically contoured, sharply etched clarity represents an emerging modernity of outlook that points to present-day Chopin players." The set also features Brailowsky's two traversals of the Waltzes, as well as his complete recordings of the etudes, Preludes and Nocturnes, plus Sonatas Nos. 2 and 3 and the ecossaises and Berceuse. Of Brailowsky's Nocturnes recording, Gramophone's reviewer wrote: "He could sing beautifully at the keyboard. His nocturnes as a whole have a touching humanity and simplicity... The mono RCA sound is quite velvety."

Fun puzzles, cliffhanger ending

If you’ve read the earlier books about the Hawthornes, you know that Avery Grambs, the heiress to the Hawthorne fortune, established an annual game of puzzles and riddle in which the winner would win a whole lot of money. This book is about one of those games.
I finished this book late last night, and the first thing you need to know is that it ends in the middle of the game! Barnes calls this a new series, and obviously, it’s the kind of series in which books are tightly linked. The next book comes out next July. So forewarned.
I found I had to concentrate at the book’s start because there’s a lot to sort out. There are 8 players, mostly new characters Hawthornes there, mostly in background with Grayson having a bigger role.
There are also three points of view. So it took me quite a while to be sure I knew who was who and what their backstory was. I’m not actually sure I understand all of them even now, partly because Barnes withholds some information for the next book
Still, page by page, I enjoyed this book. I liked solving the puzzles and was pleased with myself when I did it faster than the characters did though that wasn’t as often as I’d like. The books takes place over 2 days, I think, but there’s some insta-attraction I guess, which is interesting.
The ending was unsatisfactory for me, and Barnes obviously intended it to be that way. I’ll undoubtedly pick up the second book next year, but I’ll have to reread this one to have any hope of following it.

The story is gripping from scratch to finish, with expertly crafted twists and turns that keep you on edge of your seat. Jenn has a way of weaving together intricate plots and dynamic characters that feel incredibly real. The pacing is perfect, and every detail feels intentional and significant. I adore the characters' relationships and motives unfolded, creating a rich, layered narrative. The grandest game is the kind of book that lingers with you long after you have turned the last page.
I highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in thriller like me and you won't regret it!!

The inheritance games is utterly amazing, but grandest game BLEW away my expectations! It is twisting and turning with riddles and secrets, with brand new characters alongside our classic ones. Totally recommend to TIG lovers 12+
Shipping on the other hand was delayed nearly 2 weeks, and I live in central Texas. I was disappointed but I have already read it on kindle and wanted the paper back so wasn’t end of the world, but still annoying. Totally amazing book though!
