Автобіографічний роман 'Виднокруг' (1996) польського письменника Веслава Мисливського має ахронологічний характер: у ньому минуле (Друга світова війна) хвилями накочується на менш віддалені в часі від сьогодення повоєнні роки та на сучасні — стосовно написання книжки — події із життя оповідача Пйотра. Дія відбувається на теренах польської провінції — села та маленького містечка східної Польщі, а розмовну мову мешканців цих теренів письменник зробив одним із героїв роману. Ключовий образ твору, винесений у його назву, постає метафорою долі людини як часопростору, що має центр — точку постійного повернення — і межу, до якої кожному доводиться дійти і переступити.

У 1997-му роман відзначений літературною нагородою Nike, яка в Польщі присуджується за найкращу книжку року, й відтоді не раз перевидавався на батьківщині, а також був перекладений багатьма мовами. Давно на часі познайомитися з творчістю Веслава Мисливського і українському читачеві.
