David Oscarson's Black Water Snake fountain pen in teal brings the house signature of guilloche engraving and kiln-fired vitreous enamel to a serpentine theme with striking clarity. The saturated teal hue reads like moving water over a deep engine-turned pattern, while dark accents amplify the sinuous contours and sculptural details. Executed in precious metal with true hot enamel, this limited edition pen reflects the brand's jewelry-level approach to writing instruments.

Craftsmanship & Design

A solid sterling silver foundation is engine-turned with crisp guilloche, then layered with translucent vitreous enamel and fired repeatedly to achieve depth, luster, and lasting color stability. The snake motif moves across cap and barrel with a measured interplay of light and shadow, its form revealed through the enamel's clarity and the precision of the underlying cut. Edges are clean, transitions are deliberate, and the overall silhouette maintains a purposeful, well-balanced presence in hand. The teal finish evokes aquatic depth, while the black elements frame the design with graphic intent.

David Oscarson is among the few modern makers to work extensively in true hot enamel over sterling silver. The technique is laborious and permanent, demanding exact temperature control and careful polishing between firings. The result is a surface with glasslike radiance and enduring color, married to the tactile assurance of precious metal.

Writing Experience

An 18k gold nib provides a smooth, resilient line with the spring and feedback enthusiasts expect from a fine precious metal point. Ink delivery is consistent and easily managed via cartridge or converter, making the pen straightforward to integrate into any rotation. Offered in fine, medium, or broad, the nib selection suits both precise note-taking and expressive, more saturated handwriting styles. The sterling silver construction lends balanced weight without feeling cumbersome, encouraging a relaxed, controlled pace on the page.

Provenance & Collector Relevance

The Black Water Snake design sits comfortably within David Oscarson's lineage of small-batch, guilloche-and-enamel editions that bridge decorative arts and instrument-making. Collectors value the brand for authentic enamel work, sterling silver architecture, and strong thematic coherence across each series. This teal interpretation underscores that ethos, presenting a cohesive visual narrative executed with exacting technique. As a limited edition release, it carries the rarity and long-term interest that define the best of the marque.

Elevates your wrist
Color: Right - Black, Size: Large, Color: Right - Black, Size: Large
This is a great tool. No wrist pain day 1. It elevates your wrist to level with the mouse so there’s no backward strain. Takes a little getting use to but well worth no pain.

It's hard af.
Color: Right - Grey, Size: Small, Color: Right - Grey, Size: Small
Edit: just realized Amazon sent me a left handed one! I got this one and the g2 or whatever with the strap. The g2 is great. This one is hard though. The edges of the rest thingy. And the edges in the middle where it splits are annoying. Idk if it's a difference in the rubber pads or what. Even if this works for wrist pain, it's not worth it for the palm discomfort.

Ergonomic and effective, but requires adjustment.
Color: Right - White, Size: Large
Bought this for improving wrist posture during long hours at the desk. What I like • The ergonomic design helps reduce wrist strain, especially during extended typing sessions. • The right-handed orientation is comfortable and natural to use. • High-quality build, feels sturdy and durable. What could be better • It takes some time to adjust to the unique design, especially if you’re used to traditional mice. • The size may not be suitable for people with smaller hands. • It could be a bit pricey compared to other ergonomic mice on the market. Bottom line: A great investment for improving wrist posture and reducing strain, but it might not be for everyone due to the learning curve and price. Perfect for users looking to enhance ergonomics, but consider alternatives if you have smaller hands or need a more budget-friendly option.

It’s painful. Not worth it.
Color: Right - Grey, Size: Small, Color: Right - Grey, Size: Small
I hate it. Period. Very strong feelings about it right out of the box. Gave it a few days, and not only do I still hate it but it’s very painful to use. The rubber material is hard and has pressure points that make you come away feeling like you’ve rested your wrist on the edge of a table for too long. I come away more sore using this than not. They only have small and large sizes, I think the small is too small for me? (I’m not sure. I can tell it doesn’t fit well, but I can’t tell if it’s because it’s too small or the shape isn’t right for my wrist). In any event, I am sure the large would be too large and even if they had a medium size I still wouldn’t repurchase this. Maybe if you’ve got some meat on your bones it would be more comfortable but as you can see, I am a very thin person and this is pressing on all the wrong places. I also feel like the center valley part contributes to carpal tunnel pain because the very firm edges of each side rested right in that area, not offering any support to the valley of the wrist, and therefore creating pressure to that nerve center and the ligaments. I don’t know why they chose this material, it’s too firm. Also, I think a better design would be a little tab from the center of it sticking out and then attaching to the bottom of the mouse so that both mouse and the wrist “support” worked as one unit when moving the mouse around. I often found that I didn’t drag the wrist piece with my mouse well and that it caused even more issues. If it were comfortable I would have made a little tab myself and connected the mouse and the wrist rest together, but as it’s extremely not even remotely comfortable I’m not bothering and I’ve already started the return process.
