This Damascus multi-blade chef knife set has five knives. The largest is a 13-inch serrated-spine caidao knife. The set also includes a 12-inch chef knife, an 11-inch chef knife, a 10-inch utility knife, and a 9-inch rectangular cleaver. Every blade is forged from layered Damascus steel with a bold flowing ladder and wave pattern. Each handle is split — natural olive wood on the upper half and black pakka wood on the lower half. Silver bolsters sit at the blade end. Each handle has one mosaic pin, one silver pin, and a lanyard hole. Full tang runs through every piece. No sheath included.

This is the only Damascus multi-blade chef knife set at JW Steel Crafts with layered Damascus blades, olive wood and black pakka wood split handles, mosaic pins, and lanyard holes across all five pieces.

The History Behind This Blade

Layered Damascus steel has been used in professional kitchen blade making for its ability to hold a working edge longer than single-steel alternatives under daily high-volume cutting. Caidao and cleaver blade profiles entered Western kitchen knife sets through Chinese and Asian culinary traditions where wide heavy blades handled both vegetable prep and meat work at the same station. Olive wood and black pakka wood paired as split handle materials became popular on custom handmade sets for their contrasting tone and combined moisture resistance. The JW Steel Crafts Damascus multi-blade set brings that complete kitchen tradition into one five-knife build.

Blade Performance

Every blade is forged from layered Damascus steel with a bold flowing ladder and wave pattern. The 13-inch caidao handles long slicing strokes and heavy vegetable prep, with its serrated spine adding grip during storage. The 12-inch and 11-inch chef knives cover primary chopping, dicing, and general food preparation at different sizes. The 10-inch utility knife handles trimming and mid-size cutting tasks. The 9-inch rectangular cleaver manages heavy chopping and bone work with its wide flat profile. All five blades hold a sharp working edge through daily kitchen use.

Handle Construction

Every handle is split into two sections. Natural olive wood covers the upper half with a warm tan grain and smooth finish. Black pakka wood covers the lower half where palm pressure concentrates during cutting strokes. Pakka wood is dense and fully moisture-resistant through repeated washing. A silver bolster sits at the blade end of every knife and adds front balance. One mosaic pin and one silver pin lock the scales firmly to the full tang on each handle. A lanyard hole at the base of every handle allows hanging storage between uses.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the caidao knife in this set used for?
Long slicing strokes and heavy vegetable prep — the wide 13-inch blade handles tasks a standard chef knife cannot reach in one stroke.

Why does every handle have a lanyard hole?
For hanging storage between uses — keeps blades off the counter and edges protected when not in use.

What is the difference between the mosaic pin and the silver pin?
The mosaic pin adds decorative detail. Both pins lock the handle scales firmly to the full tang on each knife.

What is the 9-inch rectangular cleaver best used for?
Heavy chopping and bone work — the wide flat profile applies direct downward pressure across dense cuts.

Are the olive wood and black pakka handles moisture-resistant?
Yes. Olive wood resists moisture through natural oils. Black pakka wood is fully moisture-resistant through daily washing.

Is this set suitable as a gift?
Yes. Five matched Damascus blades with olive wood and black pakka handles and mosaic pins make a strong gift for chefs and collectors.

How do I care for this set?
Hand wash and dry after each use. Apply food-safe oil to olive wood handles. Sharpen with a whetstone. Store in a dry place.

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

A good read
Format: Kindle
Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.

Slightly repetitive but I did love some things
Format: Kindle
I love this type of story. And omegaverse is one of my all time favorite genres. But there are a few things that pulled me out of my enjoyment while I was reading. It was repetitive at times as well as struggled with telling not showing. So we didn’t always feel like we were experiencing things with the main character. There were also some plot holes but they may still be answered in part 2. Now this isn’t to be said I didn’t enjoy parts of the story. I loved the almost instant love between Mila and Oliver. And how he started changing around her.

delightful read
Format: Kindle
What a delightful read. The characters are awesome, the plot was so good, I loved it. I was intrigued and it kept me wanting more. Told in multiple pov, the book sucks you in and doesn’t let go. I cannot wait to read the next book.
