Story

This design of Raven with a star is created from my older style of thirty years ago. My son Gord approached me one day with an idea for a tattoo. I’ve admired the tattoo designs of First Nations peoples for years and was excited to create one that might be used by the family. 

Gord had this idea describing works of mine from many years ago. The end result of much communication and coaching from my son is this work I call Raven Star.

Numerous legends tell of how Raven brought the Sun, Moon, and Stars to the world. Most of these are all creation stories. You may have seen various designs of Raven that show a circular design in the mouth representing a sun or moon.

This creation shows Raven releasing a star in the heavens. Thanks, Gord, for your creativity and the birth of Raven Star.
