The Humbug Clown Wrasse, also known as the Yellowstripe Coris, is a bold and active wrasse species recognized for its dramatic transformation from juvenile to adult. Juveniles are bright orange-red with white spots, while adults display elegant brown, yellow, and white horizontal stripes. Hardy and full of personality, this wrasse adds color and energy to large marine aquariums.

Native to the central Pacific, particularly around Hawaii and nearby islands, Coris flavovittata inhabits coral reefs and sandy lagoons, where it forages for crustaceans and mollusks.

A carnivore that thrives on frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp, chopped seafood, and quality marine pellets. It will also naturally hunt small invertebrates in the substrate. Feed 2–3 times daily for best coloration and health.

Best kept with robust species such as tangs, angels, triggers, and other larger wrasses. Avoid very small fish, shrimp, and delicate invertebrates, which may be eaten.

Semi-aggressive. Peaceful as a juvenile but may become territorial with age, particularly toward similar species. Provide plenty of swimming space, live rock, and a sandy bed for burrowing.
