Weatherford ha estudiado todos los ángulos de esta vinculación entre Rulfo, su obra y la cinematografía a lo largo de los años, revisando archivos públicos y privados tanto en México como en los Estados Unidos, además de reunir documentos y testimonios desconocidos hasta hoy para ubicarlos en una gran obra de investigación que Editorial RM y la Fundación Juan Rulfo han editado y cuyo primer volumen presentan en el 2020.

Three scripts for two novels by Juan Rulfo, written by Gabriel García Márquez, Carlos Fuentes and Carlos Velo, with the participation of Roberto Gavaldón and Manuel Barbachano. Research and texts by Douglas J. Weatherford, essays by José Carlos González Boixo and Fernando Mino. Juan Rulfo's relations with the cinema were more extensive than what the non-specialist public usually assumes and they cover various fields in this -by definition- multifaceted activity. Douglas J. Weatherford has studied all the angles of this link between Rulfo, his work and cinematography over the years, reviewing public and private archives both in Mexico and in the United States, in addition to gathering documents and testimonies unknown until today to place them in a great research work that Editorial RM and the Juan Rulfo Foundation have edited and whose first volume will be presented in 2020.
