Alfalfa Plus

 

Johnson’s Alfalfa Plus is a pelleted feed high in fiber and protein, with low starch and sugar content. Designed as a cool feed, it suits horses and ponies in all work levels—from light to heavy—as well as retired, breeding, and growing animals. Its minimal starch and sugar make it appropriate for horses prone to tying up or conditions such as Laminitis, Cushings, Insulin Resistance, and Equine Metabolic Syndrome.

Introduce new feeds gradually over 1-2 weeks and feed alongside roughage like pasture or hay. All feeds can be given wet or dry, except Fibre Safe, which should be fed wet only. Feeds may be offered alone or mixed with ingredients such as chaff or grains. Ensure horses get at least 1% of their body weight in roughage daily. Feeding rates should be adjusted based on forage quality, training stage, exercise level, body condition, and metabolism. For feeds exceeding 0.5kg per 100kg of body weight per day, divide into smaller meals. Always provide clean water.
