What made missions to the Jewish people in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries unique was a focused effort to develop an identity for Hebrew-Christian/Messianic believers in Yeshua. These efforts were seminal to both the theology and methodology that continues to inform and influence the modern Messianic movement today. The large scale immigration of Jewish people into America and the theological changes brought by a series of theological and social events shaped forever the religious environment of New York City and in turn the rest of the world. This class gives an overview of the early efforts, theology, and sociological motivations of these Messianic pioneers as they attempted to bring the good news to the Jewish world in the late nineteenth century. It sets the foundation of early Messianic Jewish history and theology and is an important historical study for Messianic leaders and laymen alike.
