"A Faraway Land" is a folk song composed by Wang Luobin. It serves as the theme song for the film "Spring in a Small Town." This song incorporates a rare European heptatonic scale in Han ethnic folk music, combining the sounds of Kazakh folk songs with the style of Qinghai Tibetan folk songs. With its beautiful and expressive melodies, simple and concise lyrics, and natural and harmonious composition, it has gained great popularity. "In that distant place, there is a lovely girl, her rosy smiling face resembles the red sun." This song is filled with the romantic sentiments of a young Han person, and its lively and vibrant music transcends the boundaries of geography, language, ethnicity, and era, making it a masterpiece of Chinese music and art.

The composer has adapted this classic piece using percussion instruments, pairing the tremolo of the vibraphone's metallic yet soft sound with the harmonies of the marimba's wooden bass, recreating the timeless story about music, life, and love.

Tiny print
Format: Hardcover
I bought this as a gift. She loves it, but the print is terribly small and the hard cover won't lay flat. I'm going to return it and order one that she can read without glasses and a magnifying glass.

Meaningful curriculum that I highly recommend.
Format: Paperback
Heard about this book from a friend who is a teacher. Her entire school is using this curriculum and seeing great results. I bought a copy and the poster set to try for myself. Students loved it! We had amazing discussions and my students' kindness level increased by 100 percent. I appreciate that there is a curriculum for public schools that takes the students to a deeper level of understanding about themselves and others. More of my colleagues are interested in this material and I think we will be doing a book study soon. Hoping it will be adopted by our curriculum department for the entire district. Pros: Easy to use,, researched based (not fluffy), poster set to support, nice work pages for students to use during the lesson, age appropriate, meaningful connections made between myself, students and between the students and their families. Well received by community. Cons: Lessons were slightly longer than 35 minutes but I added my own activities for additional interest. Not a good curriculum for educators who only want to focus on academics.
