Makes 36 pikelets - just $0.61 each!

Pikelets make an easy breakfast or snack. You can have them on their own, with butter and jam, nut butter, maple syrup, fruit, and yoghurt… the options are truly endless. You can have them at home or easily take them on the go for a relatively mess free snack! Lunchboxes? Love them! Morning tea? Why not! Birthday party? You’d better believe it! But we have another secret for you… our pikelets are not only made with better, healthier base ingredients – they also contain fruits and vegetables in every serve! Yep, you read that right. And the best part? Your kids won’t even know the difference!

Contains 2 fruit, vegetable or legumes boosting them with more vitamins and minerals… win! With a couple of everyday home ingredients, you can whip up some delicious pikelets at home that will wow even the most hardcore foodie.

How to make

Just add milk (dairy or plant-based) & eggs. Or for a vegan option, replace 1 egg as follows:

  • Mix 1 tsp chia seeds with 3 tsp water and leave to sit for 3-5 minutes.
  • Add 1/2 tsp baking soda and 1 tsp white vinegar. Mix together and use immediately.

What do we put in our pikelets to make them so good?

  • Spelt flour: is carbohydrate rich and provides quick energy and fiber helping baby’s (and your) gut microbiome flourish and balances blood sugar. It’s also jam packed with zinc, folate, vitamin B6, magnesium, selenium and a touch of iron and protein.
  • Oats: A healthy carbohydrate, fiber rich with a special form of fiber called beta-glucan which is great for gut and immune health. Plus, they have decent protein levels (supports sleep - yay for sleep!) and a great source of zinc – to keep that baby’s health in tip top shape and supports taste and smell! Phytonutrients, heard of them? A plant compound that has a heap of benefits to the human body – our friend the rolled oat is full of them!
  • Freeze-dried fruit, vegetable, and legume powders: Did you know that freeze dried fruit powders still contain around 96% of their original nutrients. So, when we say there’s fruit or vegetables in every pikelet, we really mean it!
  • Orange and Kumara: Oranges are rich in carbohydrates, vitamins A, B6 and C and fiber. Kumara is also rich in carbs, fiber and potassium and zinc. They also contain vitamins A, B6, C, E and K.

So far so good
Color: Brown
I have had issues with other models/variations of the timex expedition in the past, so I was hesitant to get an even more expensive version of it, but I just really liked this watch so I gave it a shot. I was looking for a new “daily driver” watch as I have a bunch of nicer, more expensive watches that I didn’t want to wear to work at a hospital. I like the solar charging feature for sure as I change my own watch batteries and it can be a pain sometimes. It’s a nice weighty watch, which I like because it feels solid, not cheap. So far it seems to be keeping time well, which is an issue I’ve had with other expeditions in the past. I really like the look of this watch a lot. It’s a sharp looking watch without being too flashy or fancy so it can be worn with just about any attire. I will note that because of the solar feature, it needs to be charged well before setting the time. I placed it under a led light for about 24 hours before setting the time and using it and when I don’t wear it I place it near a window. So far I’m really liking it, but I haven’t had it long enough to really know about long-term reliability. I will update if any issues arise.

Timex Expedition Solar a no frills fine watch
Color: Brown/Blue
The watch came uncharged. I guess you're supposed to charge the watch by exposing it to sunlight. There was no sunlight and I wasn't about to wait for any. I placed it in front of one of my ultra-bright led flashlights for about 5 hours that night. It's been working fine ever since. I'll expose it to sunlight when I see some. It's a nice looking watch, no bells and whistles but it's been keeping excellent time. I swapped out the band for a NATO which I find more dependable. The price shouldn't put you in the poor house and if it's like all the other Timex watches I've owned, I'll be happy with it.

Great watch. Janky quartz. Bad strap.
Color: Brown
It’s got all the specs one could want in a field watch, but I can’t get over the janky quartz movement. The second hand overshoots and undershoots the second markers notably throughout its rotation. Also, the leather strap provided does not age well, it turns a dark brown and develops cracks in short order. Still, especially if nabbed on sale, the watch is well worth it and will probably outlive the wearer.

A nice durable non flashy field watch.
Color: Olive/Gunmetal, Color: Olive/Gunmetal
A nice looking, none flashy field watch. At 41mm it’s not too big and not too small. The sapphire crystal is a big plus on scratch resistance; and the screw in crown is a nice addition as well. If you’re looking for a low key, reliable solar powered field watch that is both comfortable, affordable and has durability built into it, this one will be hard to beat.
