У дитинстві ми бавимося пазлами. Якщо жоден із картонних клаптиків не загубився, в результаті отримуємо яскраву ілюстрацію. У дорослому ж віці ми й пазли складаємо дорослі: кількість клаптиків – невідома, форма – так само, на який малюнок орієнтуватись – знаємо не завжди. Тож хтось примудряється зі своїх персональних пазлів й у шістдесят років інфантильно складати кадр із якогось мультфільму. А хтось, розпорядившись часом мудріше, отримує в результаті маніпуляцій із пазлами ілюстрацію – пару космічних ком із кругленькими елементами взаємопроникнення, допасованих одна до одної, – інь і янь, що їх зображено на обкладинці нового роману Василя Слапчука.

'Та сама курява дороги' – роман-гра, суміш прихованих цитат. Колись у цей найбільш постмодерністський Слапчуковий твір літературознавці із задоволенням занурять свої професійні скальпелі – у цей найбільш неоднозначний та дражливий твір. Настільки неоднозначний і дражливий, що, читаючи його, я згадував слова Євгена Барана про необов’язковість 'Диких квітів'. Згадував, оскільки роман-гра 'Та сама курява дороги' надто вже контрастує з іншим – обов’язковим – Слапчуковим романом-життям 'Книга забуття', де творення художнього тексту відбувається на території реального життя й реальної смерті – там, де будь-який літературознавчий скальпель можна зламати об сувору правду людського буття.

A fun and entertaining escape room mystery

I had a lot of fun following the team as they get to know each other and solve the complicated mysteries of the escape room. As the story progresses we find out the real reasons why they all wanted to compete on the TV show, and as they get to know each other better they are able to really become a unit in solving not only the escape room, but work together to find out what really happened to Alicia last season. The mystery was good, I definitely didn't figure out what was going to happen or who was ultimately behind everything coming. This is a fun, fast, and very entertaining read. And I think with the escape room aspect it would make a really a great movie or TV show.

I was hoping for a slightly different direction for the finale, but it was still an unexpected, action-packed ending. ⚖️ All in all, the story inside was just as good as the "pretty book" aesthetic on the outside.
