A Place For Me tells the stories of 50 people living in homes in the community. It is inspiring, moving, heartbreaking and motivating to read about real people’s lives – people who have finally found a home for life.

According to Mencap, 1.5m people in the UK have a learning disability. The National Autistic Society estimates that one in ten people are on the autistic spectrum and a Royal College of Psychiatrists report says that one in a hundred will suffer from an episode of schizophrenia at ‘some point during their life’. The pain and confusion that all this can cause is felt by millions of people and their families.

Since the 1980s, there has been a drive to move people from impersonal institutions and care for them in the community: with friends and family, in residential care, or in supported homes, where trained staff help them live free and fulfilled lives.

In the summer of 2021, Polly Braden and Sally Williams travelled throughout England and Wales to chronicle the lives of people too often over-looked: adults with learning disabilities and mental health conditions, living in the community. They visited day centres, self-contained flats in converted council blocks, house shares in family-style homes and a mansion in 4.5 acres. The oldest person was 69; the youngest 23.

Great book to understand Iran's strategy in a historical context
Nasr provides a solid understanding of Iran both in contemporary and historical context. It makes the case clear what and how Iran is thinking. Reading it at the time of Us-Israel and Iran war helped make sense of the news media, which often follows shallow analysis.

Iran’s Strategic Error.
Format: Audiobook
Excellent discussion of Iran’s grand strategy in what they believe will protect their Nation as they continue as the world’s pariah. The book is well written and clearly lays out the history of Iran over the past 50-60 years and why they are implementing this strategy albeit a failed one, and the results. The Ayatollahs continue to pursue the destruction of Israel and struggle via terrorism and supporting war proxies to become the regions power, instead of pursuing economic wealth. This book describes the how’s and whys of this failed strategy. Good reading

Highly Recommend
Format: Hardcover
A must read, especially during the current circumstances, for anyone wanting to have a better understanding of the nuanced Iranian political strategy. This book not only clarifies how the current government of Iran thinks and operates but also why it does what it does. Contrary to the western narrow and wrongheaded perception of the Iranian regime as an fanatical religious theocracy, the book lays bare different approches the Iranian government takes to different problems and shows how many of those decisions are not based on religious convictions. Decisions are made for pragmatic and historical reasons and until the Western governments understand what the issues are, they will not be able to find a path forward that does not include violence, war, and mass casualties. During these times that you have ignorant American Senators that push for war on behalf of a foreign government and don't know the most basic facts about Iran, I wish every American and European politician would read this book before uttering another word.

A good explanation of Iran’s conduct
I think this book explains quite well how Iranian leaders think and why the country is so engaged in various conflicts in the Middle East.
