Tascam Portastudio 246 80's 4 Track Multitrack Cassette Tape Recorder - 100V

The best way to add some nice analogue, grainy and warm vintage sound to your recordings. At the time the 246 was one of the best multitrack recorders you could get your hands on. It features a 6-channel mixer section with proper routing facilities, insert points on every channel and two effects sends. In the EQ department, you are provided with a 2-band sweepable system, there are four large illuminated meters for the four record busses (incorporating peak reading LEDs), and two smaller ones for the master left/right mix, and the tape transport controls incorporate a memory feature as well as a zero return facility, there is a choice of two tape speeds so that you can still play your pre-recorded stereo cassettes. For serious multitrack recording, the higher speed of 3¾ips is to be recommended as the quality is noticeably better. The noise reduction system is DBX but in recognition of the fact that some drum machines and time codes don't like it, you can either switch it out on channel four only or completely by means of slide switches located on the rear panel.

• Physically this unit is in very good condition! It shows some wear from use and age like lots of small marks in the finish, some nicks and scratches. The coloured knobs are still nice and bright! Please see all photos for further details. Overall it is still a nice 246!
