The sunsets in Tofino, BC, are breathtaking throughout the year. During my time living in and visiting this magical place, I've seen hundreds of sunsets, and no two are ever the same.
This piece is inspired by a very special sunset, one in which few people realize there is a moon present unless they follow its phases. A new moon is difficult to see, but it is possible. A new moon is not in the sky at night! It rises and sets with the sun. The closest you can get to "seeing" a new moon is a "waxing crescent" right after the sun sets, or a "waning crescent" right before the sun rises.
I've captured this moment in New Moon Tofino as I've put a shadow where the moon would be as the sun sets.
Block Mount: High-quality print mounted on a 3/8” MDF board where a protective UV lamination is applied. Features a 3/4" black wood frame and a pre-cut hanger slot for easy hanging. (No glass).
