Aircraft-Grade Aluminum Alloy Frame

Precision-engineered for strength, longevity, and effortless portability.

Robust Yet Lightweight Construction

The HKM-499091 features a high-grade aluminum alloy chassis that delivers exceptional structural integrity while keeping the overall frame weight remarkably low at just 50.7 lbs (23 kg) excluding the battery. This material choice provides a superior strength-to-weight ratio, resisting corrosion and wear over years of daily use. The frame's molecular structure, refined through precision extrusion processes, ensures consistent performance across varying temperatures and humidity levels.

Optimized Load Distribution

Engineers at ToWell meticulously designed the frame geometry to distribute weight evenly across all structural members. With a tested weight capacity of 264.6 lbs (120 kg), the wheelchair maintains stability and responsive handling regardless of the user's position. The low center of gravity enhances tipping resistance, while cross-bracing elements absorb micro-vibrations for a smoother ride on uneven surfaces.

Dual Motor Drive System

Independent 250W motors deliver balanced power and precise maneuverability.

Dual 250W Brushless Motors

Each rear wheel is driven by an independent 250-watt brushless DC motor, providing a combined output that ensures reliable propulsion across diverse terrains. These motors are designed for high torque at low RPMs, enabling smooth acceleration from a standstill and confident climbing on inclines. The brushless design minimizes friction, reduces noise, and extends operational lifespan compared to traditional brushed alternatives.

Intelligent Power Delivery

The onboard controller continuously monitors wheel speed, torque demand, and battery output to optimize power distribution between the two motors. During turns, the inner wheel automatically reduces speed while the outer wheel maintains momentum, resulting in fluid cornering and a remarkably tight turning radius. This intelligent differential action makes navigating narrow hallways and crowded spaces effortless.

Removable 13Ah Lithium Battery

Extended range with the convenience of off-board charging.

High-Density Lithium-Ion Cells

The 13Ah lithium battery pack utilizes advanced lithium-ion cell technology, offering higher energy density and longer cycle life than conventional lead-acid alternatives. This translates to an extended driving range on a single charge, allowing users to confidently complete daily errands, outdoor excursions, and social visits without range anxiety. The battery management system (BMS) safeguards against overcharging, over-discharging, and thermal anomalies.

Tool-Free Removable Design

Charging flexibility is a cornerstone of the HKM-499091 design. The battery pack can be effortlessly removed without any tools, enabling convenient charging indoors — whether at home, in the office, or while traveling. Simply detach the battery, connect it to the included charger, and it will be ready for your next journey. The quick-release mechanism is intuitive and secure, locking firmly into place during operation.

Electromagnetic Brake System

Fail-safe stopping power engineered for absolute peace of mind.

Automatic Electromagnetic Braking

Safety is non-negotiable, and the HKM-499091 incorporates a sophisticated electromagnetic brake system that engages automatically whenever the joystick controller is released or power is interrupted. Unlike mechanical friction brakes that wear over time, this electromagnetic system uses magnetic force to hold the motor shaft stationary, providing maintenance-free, silent, and instantaneous stopping — even on slopes.

Fail-Safe Design Philosophy

In the unlikely event of a complete power loss, the electromagnetic brake defaults to a locked state, preventing unintended movement and ensuring the wheelchair remains securely stationary. This fail-safe architecture is a critical safety feature, particularly when navigating ramps, curbs, or inclined surfaces. The system has been rigorously tested to meet CE and ISO certification standards for medical mobility devices.

Comfort & Ergonomics

Designed for extended daily use with user-centric comfort features.

Contoured Seating with Pressure Relief

The seat cushion is ergonomically contoured to support natural spinal alignment and reduce pressure points during prolonged sitting. High-density foam padding retains its shape over time, resisting compression set even after thousands of hours of use. The breathable upholstery promotes air circulation, helping to maintain comfort in warm weather conditions.

Adjustable Armrests & Footrests

Both armrests and footrests are fully adjustable to accommodate users of varying heights and preferences. The armrests can be flipped up for easier lateral transfers, while the footrests feature a swing-away design that simplifies entry and exit. Every adjustment point is engineered for tool-free operation, ensuring that customization is quick and hassle-free.

Intelligent Joystick Control

Precision maneuvering at your fingertips with an intuitive interface.

Proportional Speed Control

The joystick controller offers proportional speed modulation, meaning the further you push, the faster you go — up to the preset maximum of 3.7 mph (6 km/h). This intuitive gradient allows for delicate micro-adjustments in tight spaces and confident acceleration in open areas. The controller housing is ergonomically shaped for comfortable, fatigue-free operation throughout the day.

Onboard Diagnostics & Battery Indicator

A clear LED display on the controller provides real-time feedback on battery level, speed setting, and system status. Diagnostic alerts notify the user of any irregularities, enabling proactive maintenance and reducing the likelihood of unexpected downtime. The interface is designed to be readable in both bright sunlight and low-light conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common inquiries about the HKM-499091.

What is the typical driving range on a full charge?
The actual range depends on several factors, including user weight, terrain type, ambient temperature, and speed settings. Under typical conditions with a 120 kg (264.6 lbs) load on flat paved surfaces at moderate speed, users can expect a range of approximately 9 to 12 miles (15 to 20 km) per full charge. Lighter users on smooth terrain may experience extended range beyond this estimate.
Can the battery be charged while attached to the wheelchair?
Yes, the 13Ah lithium battery can be charged either while mounted on the wheelchair or independently after removal. The removable design simply offers added convenience for users who prefer to charge the battery indoors without bringing the entire wheelchair inside, such as when storing the chair in a garage or vehicle.
How does the electromagnetic brake function in practice?
The electromagnetic brake is engaged by default whenever the joystick is in the neutral (center) position or when the wheelchair is powered off. It uses magnetic force to lock the motor shaft, keeping the wheels stationary. When you move the joystick to drive, the brake disengages electronically, allowing smooth movement. This system is virtually silent, requires no manual adjustment, and does not rely on friction pads that wear down over time.
Is the HKM-499091 suitable for air travel?
The lightweight aluminum frame at 50.7 lbs (23 kg) and the removable lithium battery make the HKM-499091 a practical option for travel. However, airline regulations regarding lithium batteries vary by carrier and jurisdiction. We recommend contacting your airline in advance to confirm their specific policies regarding mobility device batteries. The removable battery design facilitates compliance with most airline requirements for carry-on or checked battery transport.
What maintenance is required for the dual motor system?
The brushless DC motors in the HKM-499091 are designed for minimal maintenance. There are no brushes to replace, and the sealed motor housings protect internal components from dust and moisture. Routine care consists of keeping the wheel axles clean, periodically inspecting tire condition, and ensuring the battery contacts remain free of debris. The onboard diagnostic system will alert you to any performance irregularities that may require professional attention.

Does NOT Transmit Through Walls
Quick and easy setup! Works great within the room. However, will not work effectively between walls (i.e. - AV closet to living room).

Works perfectly - great product
My MBR TV set-up incorporates a cable box set up in a closet about 50 feet from the TV (hung over a fireplace). When it was set up the A/V used a wired infra-red set up that was wired thru the walls, under the floor, into the closet. Unfortunately some mice nibbled on the wiring and it does not work. I have tried everything including the Next Generation extender (over the years bought 6 of them for different TV's) and most recently the Startech. The Next Generation have not been updated in years and over time completely lose their ability to operate. No customer service at all; emails go into a black hole. I had high hopes for the Startech. Easy to set up and worked out of the box. The problem is the lag time. I could live with it when watching live TV, but it was totally impossible when it came to playing back programs from the DVR (which is cloud based). I was losing hope until I tried the Sewell Blaster. Took me less then 5 minutes to set up and it worked instantly. Little or no lag to speak of and I couldn't be happier. NB. Speaking of Sewell, the absolutely BEST way to control your HDMI based TV is the Sewell Direct SW-30062 Dual Band InjectIR sold by Amazon for $55. This is truly plug 'n play and operates with absolutely no lag. Bought 2 of these to operate TV's in my apartment where I had to hide boxes in closets. Well made, great instructions (coordinated with the devices) and I just love this product. I bought mine direct from Sewell ) same price) because I couldn't find them on Amazon when I needed them, but they have a great return policy and I'm told great C/S. If you can't use these then go for the Blaster.

This vacuum is totally worth the extra money! I LOVE MY YELLOW VAC!
Configuration: Vacuum
Don't hesitate to spend a few more dollars on this vacuum, because you won't be sorry over time. I had done extensive research on purchasing my next vacuum when I came across this model. A friend owns one of the dark green limited edition models and had great things to say about it. I tried hers out and that was that. I loved it. She also bought the floor attachment for wood or flat surface flooring that is already included with this model. I loved that attachment when I tried hers out. It glides across the floor and sucks everything up in it’s path. The Calima had everything I wanted in one package and I really loved the cheerful yellow color. The only thing I didn't like was the price of course. However, in this case I do believe you get what you pay for. Luckily, I was able to get an Amazon Warehouse like new Calima with the floor attachment for ever so slightly more than my friend’s vac plus the extra floor attachment would've cost me. YES!!! In my 16 years married life, I have bought and used a Panasonic, a Dyson and most recently a Sears Progressive (discontinued red model). Their life span has been 4-6 years each. I vowed this time to do some research up front, so I can stop my side job of buying new vacuum cleaners. I found I loved canister vacs thanks to the Progressive, so that was my number one priority. Proven longevity was the next priority. When my vac arrived, I immeditely took it out of the box and started vacuuming away. I have family members with allergies and one with allergies and asthma. My old vacuums never did the cleaning job of this little, lightweight yellow sunshine! I enjoy vacuuming again. It is so quiet that every time I use it, my daughter comments on it. It turns on a dime and is so easy to maneuver. The cord is a perfect length and winds up in a snap. I do like the digital features (that can be touched with your toes-no need to bend down) of changing the suction power. I considered other models with the manual dial and even saw one at Bed Bath and Beyond. It wasn't difficult, but the digital is better in my opinion. Compartments open and close with such ease unlike my Progressive, which I had to wrench open every time I needed to change the bag or get an attachment out. I actually broke the clasp off that allows you to change the bag within months of first getting the Progressive. The Progressive and my other vacs for that matter, were all made of cheap plastic. The Miele surpasses all of my other vacs by leaps and bounds! This company makes great vacuums! Thank you Miele and thank you Amazon!

It will change your mind about vacuuming
Configuration: Vacuum
I have Persian carpets, hardwood floors, brick, and tile and this vacuum works well on all of them. I also have short haired dogs and cats and live in the woods so there is a lot to vacuum up here. I have always had Kenmore canister vacuums that lasted forever and I wanted to get a vacuum cleaner that I wouldn't have to replace every few years so spent the extra money to hopefully get what they promise in that regard. I also spent the extra money on this C3 model because it is made in Germany. The body is heavy plastic but lightweight and has a great little rubber bumper around it so it won't mark your walls or break the plastic when you crash into something. The accessories are well made with no strange plastic seams that catch dirt. The hose and tube are made of heavy materials. I have to carry the canister up three different types of stairs including a narrow spiral staircase and it is very easy to do this. The body is slim enough so that it isn't awkward to carry up stairs while holding the hose and tube too. The machine is well designed, something I look for in everything I purchase. It is easy to change speeds, and turn on and off with your foot so you don't have to bend over everytime you want to turn it off or change the speed. The retractable cord is super nice, and something I was used to with the Kenmore. It keeps the cord safe from nicks and also makes it easier to transport and store. A couple of things I miss from my old Kenmore that I didn't get on this model was the on/off switch on the handle, the ability to go from floor to carpet with the beater brush, and 360 degree swivel hose at the attachment to the canister. This machine does come with the parquet twister attachment, which I read from many reviews was a great tool and can agree wholly that it is, and you can certainly leave it on to vacuum your carpets, but the turbo brush which comes with it too, is a much better cleaning tool for low pile rugs. So I vacuum all of my non-carpeted areas first, then switch the tool and go back and vacuum the rugs. It is a bit of a pain but not terrible. The biggest issue is that you have to carry the extra floor tool with you when you climb the stairs holding the vacuum. Again, not really terrible just a bit of a pain. I have had no issues with the turbo brush getting clogged with hair, but then I have short haired pets. I did choose to get the complete mainly because the canister holds the other attachments (crevice, upholstery, and wall brushes) inside making it easy to transport and less likely to lose the tools. The variable speed motor is soooo much quieter than any vacuum I've ever owned. My pets don't freak out when I vacuum now. The turbo tool has a switch on it which allows the suction to be reduced if you are pulling the rug off the floor. There is also a cool little metal strip down the back of the handle to discharge static electricity. You just have to keep your hand on it while you vacuum. This is a good example of thoughtful design. Because I was replacing a nearly defunct vacuum cleaner I was a vacuuming maniac for the first week I had the Miele. My children thought I had lost my mind and wondered how I could possibly be so excited about a vacuum cleaner...it was a change from my focus on other things, like riding bikes and stuff like that. But my house had become a dust bomb and after vacuuming one rug and watching the dull red change to bright red with a beautiful pattern that I guess I had gotten used to not seeing anymore...I started vacuuming everything in sight (that you could vacuum of course). Almost everything returned to its original color and I filled the vacuum cleaner bag quickly. I also love that the bag and filters keep the dust from reentering the house...so you aren't just moving it around to vacuum up again next week. And probably, most of all, even above the excellent job the machine does on removing dirt from carpets and upholstery, cleaning floors (the parquet twister is awesome for getting right up next to the baseboard at weird angles), is the yellow color. How can you not like vacuuming with a bright yellow vacuum?

Great Vacuum
Configuration: Vacuum
I've had my vacuum for several months now. It is fantastic on hardwood floors and does a great job on furniture and stairs. The vacuum is very lightweight and quiet, making it easy to use in our two story, open plan house. Previously, I would get dirty looks from my husband if I tried to run the vacuum upstairs while he was watching television in the living area. I first purchased a Miele C1 series vacuum last year to replace my upstairs vacuum. I love that vacuum, but it has limitations as far as doing area rugs and carpet. My previous vacuums have all been Kenmore canister vacuums, and that was the only brand I would buy. I gave the Miele C1 a chance when Amazon had it at a special price. I then purchased this model, the C3, after several months because the vacuum I used downstairs started having issues. This vacuum is so lightweight and easy to carry up and down stairs that I probably should have splurged on the C3 model to begin with, as I almost always end up carrying the C3 upstairs to do the carpet in the bedroom anyway. My previous Kenmore canister vacs were very heavy and were almost impossible for me to carry safely on the stairs. While the C1 has attachments that are on a very poorly designed holder that is supposed to clip on the hose (doesn't stay there), this model has attachments inside the canister making them much more accessible and safe from being lost. My biggest complaint about this vacuum is the power brush. I have 6 cats - 3 long-haired rescues and 3 Maine Coon cats. If you are familiar with Maine Coon breed, you know they are all about fur, lots and lots of fur. We have to do a lot of brushing in our house, and our vacuums have to work hard. I discovered that the power brush is quickly overpowered with cat fur sticking on the roller brush, and I need to take small scissors after every use on a carpet and remove all the fur before the next use. It is a tedious chore and I can't believe a vacuum at this price point doesn't have a better power brush design. It does a good job cleaning the carpets, but you do have to keep after the cleaning of the brush roller. I did not have to do that with my Kenmore turbo brush. Thankfully, we only have 2 carpeted rooms in our house, and a few area rugs, so mostly I am vacuuming hardwood and it does a fantastic job on that.
