Deze warme foto vast een moment van ontspanning in het hart van de bevrijding van Normandië van de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Een groep Amerikaanse soldaten heeft zich verzameld rond een piano op de Montéglise straat in Barenton, op 10 augustus 1944. De twee soldaten rechts dragen trots het insigne van de 2nd Armored Division, die op die datum in de regio arriveerde.

De piano die hier wordt gebruikt, roept de beroemde Steinway "Victory Vertical" piano's op, speciaal ontworpen om het moraal van de troepen aan het front te behouden. Hoewel de oorspronkelijke legende het zingen van "Go to town" vermeldt, komt deze versie niet overeen met de spartaans ontworpen modellen van de piano's die in campagne werden gebruikt.

Een zeldzaam en ontroerend moment van kameraadschap, dat het belang van muziek en groepsgeest benadrukt voor deze strijders in het hart van de Tweede Wereldoorlog.

I believe this book took a lot of courage to write. To me she did a great job of not showing bitterness just love, confusion, and taking back the power. Belle admitted to her struggles and being knocked off her feet by what happened. She asked the questions and was left with No answers. She picked herself up and proved she was strong. I love that she still believes in her life story. That she still believes in love. But i also admire that she recognized the cycle and is going to break it for her kids. So, hopefully this book will be another way people realize we need to stop shifting the blame do the victim. Put ownership where it belongs. Stop, listen, and be a friend.
