Hieronder meer over hoe deze wijn werd ontdekt door mij en reisgenote:

Op onze camperreis over dit eiland kwamen we bij de vinotheek en supermarkt alleen maar Sardeense wijn tegen. Maar wat ons ook opviel dat men in Sardinië gesteld is op locale producten, op allerlei gebied. Er leek niet veel van het vasteland te komen.
Maar hoe we ook zochten, de rode waren hard en niet toegankelijk in tegenstelling tot de Vermentino's. De locale rode druif heet Cannonau. Blijkt de Grenache Noir te zijn. Deze Grenache is in Frankrijk een druif die een slappe wijn oplevert en bijna nooit als monocépage wordt opgevoerd. Meestal toegevoegd i.c.m. de Syrah-druif. Maar we gaven de moed niet op.

Op één van onze reizen in het binnenland kwamen we noodzakelijkerwijs bij een klein winkeltje in een minidorp. Ze verkochten daar alles voor de nodige eerste levensbehoeften en daar hoort wijn ook bij uiteraard. En laat deze wijn nu wel smaken maar het is wel een Carignano oftewel de in Frankrijk bekendere Carignan die in veel Zuid-Franse wijnen zit en hem ook daar stevigheid geeft.

De meeste wijngebieden liggen overigens in het uiterste zuiden van Sardinië en dat gebied heet Sulcis. En daar komt ook onze selectie vandaan. Verder niet onbelangrijk: doordat het altijd waait en droog is komen ziektes ontstaan door vocht zo goed als niet voor.

Not quite as good as top name brands but pretty decent so far for the money

I compare these to the Columbia version with similar design. I ordered the large, which is my Columbia size. I note that the Amazon version was slightly tighter in the waist and the lining was significantly tighter in the legs. The elastic bands are both well structured and not flimsy. I live in Florida and I wear these swim trunks as my everyday outdoor shorts, whether working in the yard, biking, walking, or whatever. I note that when I tried to wear these in my exercise classes, the legs tend to stick and not slide up the legs when I squat, which is not a problem with the Columbia shorts. Lest you think it unfair to compare these two brands, Columbia puts their shorts on sale a couple of times a year for about the same price. Of course, you have to pay attention regularly to their website and it doesn't help if you need shorts now. I will continue to use these shorts for outdoor work and activities and they seem to be holding up fine for now. Next time I will probably get the XL for comfort if Columbia doesn't have a big sale (unless I can manage to lose a little visceral fat I have collected the last few years!). One other positive and one negative. I like that the black shorts have a black tie string, but the blue pants have a white string which shows dirt and looks a bit cheaper than if the string was blue. White is fine for swim trunks, but when they are used as all purpose volley shorts it doesn't show well with white string. I saw some complaints in the comments saying these shorts were not quick drying. I note they are every bit as fast drying as my Columbia and Nike shorts which are advertised as quick drying. As you might imagine a few hours working in the Florida sun I can sweat a ton so I can certainly judge drying speed.
