De wijngaarden zijn gelegen in Fruili, gelegen ten oosten van Venetië. Doordat het wat noordelijker is gelegen, is het klimaat iets frisser. Dit is perfect voor het verbouwen van de Sauvignon Blanc druif. Doordat de wijngaarden relatief dichtbij de Adriatische kust liggen, ontvangen zij ook de nodige frisheid vanuit zee. Zuiverheid is het toverwoord voor deze witte wijn van Fornas. Alleen de mooiste en volste trossen mogen onderdeel worden van deze wijn. Hierdoor is de selectie van druiven enorm streng. Echter krijg je hier zo ontzettend veel voor terug. Een perfecte wijn, welke enorm uitgebalanceerd is. Het boeket van Fornas Sauvignon Blanc is enorm stuivend. Zodra je de wijn inschenkt, wordt je neus al aan het werk gezet: je ruikt groene appel, kruisbessen en frisse grapefruit. Het water loopt ons al reeds in de mond. Het palet ontplooit zich uitermate goed op de tong. Aroma’s van verse peer en zachte appel komen eenvoudig los. Frisse nuances van citrus en grapefruit hangen heerlijk in de wangen. Super easy to use and takes the guess-work out of getting even pressure on the grounds

I have been using a hand tamper for many years and have a good idea of the pressure I am applying to the grounds in the portafilter. I honestly considered spring tampers to be a bit silly. But this tamper really does take the guess-work out of pressing the coffee grounds. The shroud helps guide the press so that pressure is applied even and flat across the surface. With the manual tamper, there will be some play when pressing, or some unevenness in pressure. This is especially true when cranking out many espressos during a breakfast party with friends. Having the spring tamper makes quick work of turning out a lot of coffees with consistency.
There are no instructions for taking this tamper apart to clean inside, and you may not really need to do that very often. After each use, just pull back the shroud (the black piece that moves up and down) and wipe off the tamper (the shiny steel part). This will help prevent grounds from working their way inside. If you do want to take it apart, it’s easy. Pull back the shroud and unscrew the tamper. It will come apart into three pieces. Wipe the pieces off and reassemble. Super quick and easy.
This tamper is very heavy. My scale shows 656 g (about a pound and a half). It fits the portafilter exactly, with no slop. Just place on top of grounds and press!. Don’t even worry about pressure, just push down all the way. Overall I had fun using this tamper versus my manual one. And since I make myself a cappuccino very early in the morning, I don’t have to be very awake to get a good pack on the grounds and get my coffee fast!

Quality and Function
Looks like a silly little thing, I am not a coffee enthusiast. But it does exactly what it is supposed to do and with high quality. The device (a stretch to call it that) is made of sturdy materials including the needles. They give you two different thicknesses of needles, one for expressi (0.3) and one set for coffee grinds (0.4). Each comes wth some spares. The stand is well designed and keeps grinds from spreading all over. It is very elegant design. I use this with a dosing funnel on my portafilter. Not the cheapest one could buy but well worth the money.

Perfect WDT tool
Best WDT I’ve found. Love that it includes 0.3mm needles (as I’ve found that 0.4mm needles push the grounds around too much), and the stand is very clever. It knocks off the residual grounds on the needles and is easy to use. As far as WDT tools go, I can’t imagine anything better.
