De oogst van de Veuve Ambal Cremant de Bourgogne

Voor de Veuve Ambal zijn drie druivenrassen gebruikt, die het uitermate goed doen op de wijn velden in Bourgogne. Namelijk de Chardonnay, Pinot Noir en de Gamay. De Chardonnay zorgt voor het karakter in deze Cremant de Bourgogne, de Pinot Noir en de Gamay druif voor een bepaalde fruitigheid. Zo’n fruitigheid die je niet meer snel doet vergeten. De geur en smaak van de Veuve Ambal Cremant de Bourgogne

Tijd om deze knaller van een wijn te ontkurken, wat natuurlijk al een feestje op zich is met een mousserende wijn. Wat ons meteen opvalt is de hele lichte roze kleur van deze Cremant de Bourgogne. Dit is ontstaan door het extra gebruik van Pinot Noir. De geur is bijzonder en fijn. Je blijft ruiken aan Veuve Ambal en je ruikt steeds wat anders. Je iets van gebakken brood en brioche. Vanille tonen maar ook gele perzik. Een lichte en subtiele honing geur maakt het feestje in de neus helemaal compleet. Neem een slok en je wordt verrast door een flinke portie zuren, welke precies passen bij de Cremant. Een volle en stevige mousse vult zich in de mond. Dit valt geen moment tegen van Veuve Ambal. De afdronk is in evenwicht wat betreft de zuren en het bittertje. Een heerlijke begeleider voor elke toast, feestje of gewoon zomaar. Want Veuve Ambal Cremant de Bourgogne is lekker!

I haven’t written a review in a while but this one motivated me to because it had potential and with some honest beta readers correcting its nonsense, it could have been pretty good. The writing is awkward at times and the world building was slow and one dimensional until around half way through and then it got much better. The main issues are with the characters, dialogue and plot. The FMC swings from stupidly trusting her “ friends” even when she is repeatedly betrayed to hating those who betrayed her to seemingly forgetting she hated them. It’s a whirlwind that reeks of adolescent drama and doesn’t fit the plot the author was trying, I think, to execute. The ridiculous decisions the character makes are so obviously made to move the plot in the direction the author was trying to go and was so basic in plot writing it was at times like reading a teenager’s writing project. It was hard to connect to the main character and hard to like any of the others. The author has potential but it was not met in this book. I will not be reading the next and really had to push through to even finish this one.

Even though there were predictable portions of the story, I was still invested enough not to care. I’m curious what will happen in book 2. The spice level is mild, but maybe it will get spicier?? The only reason I gave the story four stars was because the world building in the beginning of the story was a bit confusing. I could’ve used a bit more explanation. Overall - I recommend to anyone who loves a story about lovers triangles & a FMC who struggles with an overwhelming power.
