Intens donkergekleurde Syrah. Met een zeer aantrekkelijke, gevarieerde geur met paarse pruimen, viooltjes, exotische specerijen (kaneel, nootmuskaat en kruidnagel), iets witte peper en pure chocolade. Rijk, genereus en intens. Maar ook soepel, met mooie zuren en mondvullende, verfijnde tannines. En met een immens lange, fruitige afdronk. De fraaie structuur van deze wijn geeft aan dat hij prachtig kan ouderen.

Boekenhoutskloof is een spraakmakend wijngoed in Franschhoek dat vooral in kwalitatief opzicht imponerend is. Boekenhoutskloof is, ondanks zijn voor het 'Franse' Franschhoek wat ongebruikelijke Afrikaanse naam, drie eeuwen geleden gesticht door Franse Hugenoten.

Ook de huidige wijnmaker Marc Kent heeft nog altijd iets met Frankrijk. Hij gaat er minstens eenmaal per jaar op bezoek om in de noordelijke Côtes du Rhône, Cornas, nieuwe inspiratie op te doen. Thuis in Franschhoek heeft hij naam gemaakt met kanjers van wijnen als Boekenhoutskloof Semillon, Syrah en Cabernet Sauvignon, die stuk voor stuk tot de absolute top van Zuid-Afrika behoren.
