De legendarische rockgitarist Steve Hackett brengt zijn nieuwe studioalbum "The Circus And The Nightwhale" uit. De 12 tracks van "The Circus And The Nightwhale", een conceptalbum met een jong personage genaamd Travla als middelpunt, hebben een autobiografische invalshoek voor de muzikant die over zijn 30e solorelease zegt:
"Ik hou van dit album. Het zegt de dingen die ik al heel lang wil zeggen."
Opgenomen tussen tournees in 2022 en 2023 in de Siren studio in het Verenigd Koninkrijk - met gastbijdragen uit Zweden, Oostenrijk, de VS, Azerbeidzjan en Denemarken - bevat de line-up van "The Circus And The Nightwhale" een aantal bekende gezichten naast Steve op elektrische en akoestische gitaren, 12-snarig, mandoline, harmonica, percussie, bas en zang. Roger King (keyboards, programmering en orkestrale arrangementen), Rob Townsend (sax), Jonas Reingold (bas), Nad Sylvan (zang), Craig Blundell (drums) en Amanda Lehmann op zang. Nick D'Virgilio en Hugo Degenhardt keren terug als gasten op het drumstel, engineer extraordinaire Benedict Fenner verschijnt op keyboards en Malik Mansurov is terug met de teer. Tot slot is Steve's broer John Hackett weer van de partij op fluit.
