De Klimhortensia ook wel Hydrangea anomala petiolaris genoemd, is een winterharde, bladverliezende klimplant. Deze plant staat bekend om zijn indrukwekkende bloei en zelfhechting, waardoor hij ideaal is voor het begroeien van muren, schuttingen en pergola's. In juni en juli produceert de Klimhortensia grote, witte bloemschermen, bestaande uit een krans van schutbladeren met in het hart talloze witte knopjes. Deze bloemen trekken veel vlinders, bijen en hommels aan. Het loof is donkergroen van kleur en hartvormig. De struik kan een hoogte bereiken van 4 meter. In het begin heeft de plant wat steun nodig, maar eenmaal gevestigd hecht hij zich zelf met behulp van hechtwortels aan oppervlakken. De Klimhortensia gedijt het beste in halfschaduw of zon. In de zon heeft de plant meer water nodig om uitdroging te voorkomen . De plant prefereert een vochtige, goed doorlatende, voedselrijke en kalkarme bodem. Zorg ervoor dat de grond niet te zwaar is om wortelrot te voorkomen. Geef regelmatig water, vooral tijdens droge periodes. Eenmaal gevestigd heeft de plant minder water nodig, maar in droge zomers is extra water essentieel. Snoei de plant in maart of april door de oudste takken weg te nemen. Dit bevordert de bloei en houdt de plant in vorm. Na de bloei kunnen de uitgebloeide bloemen worden verwijderd, maar dit is niet noodzakelijk
