Elbow bracht hun negende studioalbum, ‘Flying Dream 1’, uit op 19 november 2021. De band schreef ‘Flying Dream 1’ op afstand vanuit hun thuisstudio's, waarna ze samenkwamen in het lege Brighton Theatre Royal om de nummers te perfectioneren, uit te voeren en op te nemen.

Het album is geproduceerd door Craig Potter. Langdurig medewerker Alex Reeves keerde terug op drums en percussie, met Sarah Field op klarinetten en saxofoons. De achtergrondzang werd verzorgd door Wilson Atie, Adeleye Omotayo en Marit Røkeberg van London Contemporary Voices, aangevuld met oude vriendin en jarenlange collaboratuer Jesca Hoop.

We had to go get a shelf bracket from lowe’s to get it to sit right and not lean forward. So just beware if you want it to sit flush, you’re going to need something additional. Still worth it for the price!
