Carotenoïden zijn gele tot roodachtige kleurstoffen die van nature voorkomen in planten en bepaalde micro-organismen. Ze spelen een belangrijke rol bij de overdracht van energie in de fotosynthese. Daarnaast beschermen ze deze organismen tegen de schadelijke gevolgen van zonlicht. Astaxanthine, een zeer bijzondere carotenoïde met een karakteristieke rode kleur, wordt in de natuur aangemaakt door plankton, algen en sommige planten, schimmels en bacteriën. De hoogste concentratie astaxanthine wordt aangetroffen in de groene microalg Haematococcus pluvialis (die ook de bron is van Astamax van Vitals).
Via plankton en algen komt astaxanthine in de voedselketen terecht en zorgt het voor het roze-rode pigment in waterdieren zoals zalm, forel, garnaal, krab, zeekreeft en rivierkreeft, maar ook sommige vogels zoals de flamingo. Voor deze dieren is astaxanthine een vitamine-achtige stof. Vanwege zijn bijzondere eigenschappen heeft astaxanthine het vermogen om de optimale hydrofiele en hydrofobe positie in te nemen in de lipidendubbellaag van celmembranen en mitochondriale membranen.
Superieure bron en productiemethode
De astaxanthine die Vitals heeft geselecteerd is AstaREAL®, van de gelijknamige Zweedse producent AstaReal, dé pionier en expert op het gebied van natuurlijke astaxanthine. AstaReal is de eerste ter wereld die astaxanthine uit Haematococcus pluvialis begon te ontwikkelen en produceren. Er zijn inmiddels meer dan 40 humane studies gedaan met AstaREAL®. De productiemethode van producent AstaReal is uniek en zorgt voor pure, natuurlijke astaxanthine met de hoogste concentraties van de hoogste kwaliteit. AstaREAL® is geen extract maar een ‘whole food’. De alg met astaxanthine wordt namelijk op het optimale moment geoogst en volledig gebruikt, in tegenstelling tot andere (Hawaïaanse) productiemethodes, waarbij de algen in open bassins worden gekweekt en de astaxanthine prematuur uit de alg geëxtraheerd moet worden om besmetting met ongewenste micro-organismen te voorkomen.
Hoge dosering
Omdat onderzoek laat zien dat veelal hogere doseringen (6-12 mg per dag) aan te bevelen zijn, bevat Astamax maar liefst 6 mg astaxanthine per softgelcapsule aangevuld met antioxidanten vitamine C en vitamine E.

good value and battery life

Love this!! the keyboard has a good life on it and charges pretty fast. I at first didn't really like that it detaches, but being able to hold the keyboard in my lap and type on the screen while I sit on the sofa is actually pretty nice. the trackpad does have a bit of a learning curve, but gestures/hotkeys are all listed on the bottom so it's easy to check whenever necessary.
The material of the case itself also cleans really easy. I spilled a drink on it and it wiped right off. I feel like this is a pretty good value all things considered, especially when similar products at big box stores can eb a couple hudnred bucks.
The only downside is that the keyboard, while slim, does add a bit of bulk to the case. It's not a huge deal for me, but my boyfriend who also has an ipad did notice the difference immediately.

Heavy! It is a nice case and the keyboard works good. Turns off randomly, but not too annoying. This case is heavy though! It at least triples the weight of my iPad, which is opposite the reason I got an iPad Air. Too late to return, I just take the keyboard out, but it must be the magnets in the case that are so heavy.

Fantastic keyboard!

Pleasantly surprised!! And less than half the price of an ipad folio keyboard - I know, one feels like one has to stay in brand. So I was nervous about buying a keyboard that wasn't made by Apple. But to be honest, the Apple keyboards and mice have betrayed me on numerous occasions. They have not earned my loyalty and need to reassess their dubious life choices.
I needed a protective cover to stop my cats doom scrolling while I am asleep. I am OK with them using the internet - even though I have had random people text me back a picture of a large feline left nostril and just the letters WFT? It is what it is. I think they are little geniuses. But they scratch the ipad surface which is annoying. So I thought, what the heck - I am about to do my RN-BSN online and need a way to make my ipad transportable while protected, and set up so I can easily bang out some homework assignments on the run.
Easy set up! What a relief! Tech usually hates me - sees me coming from a mile off and starts planning to at best ruin my day, and at worst have me calling my therapist. At first I started reading the instructions and my teeth hurt from the bad translation into English. But even with that negative energy I was able to set it up very quickly. Everything just WORKED!! I know. I set a low bar. These days one has to. This time I didn't need to.
The cover is sturdy, soft and coffee resistant, thank goodness. The keyboard just plops on, connects through magic and immediately makes me feel like I am not as stupid as I thought! Absolutely recommend this wonderful keyboard - I dunno who do this voodoo but I am very excited. Crack on my lovelies! Make those dreams a reality.

Great product!

I really love this. The baby pink is so cute! I had my hesitations because I couldn’t see if the pink would be as good in real life. It’s like a soft blush color. Honestly, I was going to drop $350 on the Magic Keyboard for my iPad Air. Which is ridiculously expensive. This is a way better alternative. It fits my iPad pen. The iPad itself fits perfectly. I thought the keyboard was going to be tacky and cheap. But it’s pretty legit too. I love that when I’m done using the iPad, the whole case protects everything, even the keyboard inside and especially the camera lense. The magic key board does not have that feature. Like that it’s magnetic too. The material is so soft to touch. I can see how it can get dirty with ink spot if not careful. Overall, really happy with this purchase!
