De Rhône Villages wijngaarden zijn verdeeld over verschillende gemeenten in het departement Vaucluse. De grond waar de Grenache, Syrah en Mourvèdre druivenplanten in wortelen bestaat voornamelijk uit klei, leisteen en kiezel. Wat de beste basis biedt voor deze Franse rode wijn.

Het toonaangevende wijnhuis Ogier in de Rhônevallei

Er zijn maar weinig wijnregio's in de wereld met een zo lange en illustere geschiedenis als die van de Rhônevallei in Frankrijk. Al meer dan tweeduizend jaar worden in deze regio wijnen geproduceerd, geprofiteerd van de uitstekende, mineraalrijke bodems van de regio en het gevarieerde klimaat waardoor een breed scala aan druivensoorten kan groeien. De Rhônevallei wordt geassocieerd met elegante, smaakvolle wijnen en bepaalde druivensoorten zoals Viognier en Syrah, die bedreven zijn in het uitdrukken van de fijnere kenmerken van hun terroir. De wijngaarden van Plan de Dieu strekken zich uit over vier gemeenten in dit gebied. Camaret-sur-Aigues, Jonquières, Travaillan et Violès en de Vaucluse. Deze wijngaarden hebben zich in de Middeleeuwen onder invloed van de Tempeliers kunnen ontwikkelen. De wijnen werden al snel bekend vanwege hun kwaliteit. Het toonaangevende wijnhuis Ogier is gevestigd in het even beroemde Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Hier hebben ze een geweldige reputatie op kunnen bouwen met betrekking tot hun Rhône wijnen.

De goddelijke aroma’s van Plan de Dieu Cotes du Rhone Villages

Na de oogst vindt de vergisting plaats op 22 graden, naar het einde loopt de temperatuur op naar 28 graden. Het druivensap wordt regelmatig voorzichtig overgepompt, wat zorgt voor een goede extractie van de smaken. Na de zeven maanden rijping is het tijd om te genieten van deze volle, rijke rode Cotes du Rhone Villages Plan de Dieu. Goddelijke aroma's van rijpe aardbei en peer met in de verte mooi tonen van eikenhout en alleraardigst aards. Een mooi rijpe structuur vloeit over in een afdronk in stijl.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

I love this type of story. And omegaverse is one of my all time favorite genres. But there are a few things that pulled me out of my enjoyment while I was reading. It was repetitive at times as well as struggled with telling not showing. So we didn’t always feel like we were experiencing things with the main character.
