De halal Polderhoen Drumsticks van halalmeat.nl zijn afkomstig van een biologische kip. De drumstick is het onderste deel van de kippenbout. Het is een Frans kippenras, en groeit langzaam maar sterk op. Hij is bestand tegen wisselende weersinvloeden waardoor dit ras geschikt is om biologisch gehouden te worden. Wanneer is een kip biologisch?
Om een kip een biologische certificaat te geven, zijn er heel wat richtlijnen waar de kippenhouder zich aan moet houden, hierbij is het belangrijk dat er genoeg ruimte in de stal is (maximaal 10 kippen per m2), de grond moet voorzien zijn van stro of zaagsel en de kippen moeten vrij naar buiten kunnen. Het voer van de Polderhoen kip bestaat voor 95% uit biologische granen en zaden. Daar mogen geen genetische gemodificeerde grondstoffen, hormonen en andere groeibevorderende stoffen gebruikt worden.
