De basis van de Pinot Noir, oftewel Spatburgunder, ligt in de Bourgogne. Wijnhuis Ellermann Spiegel is gelegen in het zuidelijkste puntje van de Pfalz. Op deze plek profiteren de druiven van een uniek microklimaat. In de zomer is het overwegend warm en zonnig. In het westen van het wijnbouwgebied beschermt het Haardtgebergte de druiven in de winter tegen koude oostenwind en houdt dit gebergte in de zomer de warmte vast. Hierdoor kunnen de druiven optimaal rijpen. In 2007 nam Frank Spiegel de ongeveer 48 hectare wijngaard over van zijn stiefvader Harald Ellermann. Tot die tijd verkocht hij de wijn in vaten aan coöperaties. Ik korte tijd heeft Frank het bedrijf omgetoverd van bulkleverancier naar kwaliteitshuis met eigen bottelingen. Met succes brengen zij de wijnen van Ellermann-Spiegel sinds drie jaar op de Nederlandse markt. De druiven worden met de hand geplukt. Rijping gedurende twaalf maanden op houten vaten en roestvrijstalen tanks.De typisch karakteristieke geur van Spatburgunder
Trek deze wijn open en het eerste wat je opvalt is de typische, karakteristieke geur die alleen een Spatburgunder kan hebben. De kenmerkende geur van kruidigheid in combinatie met bosfruit en kersen, prikkelt meteen je zintuigen. Deze Ellermann Spiegel bevat barstensvol fruit. Kersen, kersen en nog eens kersen. I'd recommend it, especially at this give-away-price
As a sociologist, I was always interested as to how the USSR could morph what Marx considered communalism networked by a shallow, weak, centralized and supposedly representative government into what I would considered an extremest left-wing oligarchy (most fashionably consider it right-wing despite how it was sold and supported by the people that allowed it- so much for cultural relativity and in context social analysis!). If Stalin actually wrote these pieces (or more commonly among dictators farmed it out to a frightened academic ghostwriter) then it could help explain why Marx disassociated himself with much of the Marxist movement toward the end of his life. It is a logically written and well informed book - worth the read if you are into the sociology of politics, philosophy of politics or the history of politics. I'd recommend it, especially at this give-away-price!

Good book, mediocre edition
Format: Paperback
This review pertains to the quality of this edition's editing and construction, rather than the content of the book itself. Rest assured that the text itself remains a valuable piece of introductory theory.
The book is fairly well constructed, with paper and a binding that is sturdy enough for general use. However, my copy had several manufacturing errors including folded over pages being stuck into the binding. In addition, there are several misspelled words throughout the text and some obvious typos (missing letters, incorrect capitalization and punctuation) that did not majorly impact the readability of the text, but were, nevertheless, annoying.
Considering the low price of this edition the manufacturing errors are hardly a big deal, but I would have preferred the text itself to have been treated with more care and respect while being prepared for printing.

thoughts on Xi Jinping
Format: Kindle
This book was highly organized and very easy to comprehend. I have formed a much better understanding of Xi Jinping and where he is taking China. Although I feel he has been thoughtful and successful in some areas such as improving China economically, I don’t feel his autocratic approach will succeed in the long run when more Chinese people will demand to be heard. Just as Mao thought didn’t outlast Mao, Xi thought will not outlast Xi.
